Obedience Transformation
Obedience To Holy Spirit
With this being part 2, this sermon should be complementing last weeks sermon. we visited the scripture in 1 Samuel as well as Malachi 3 in setting up several PRINCIPLES in the ways of God. This week we will be continuing looking into these principles to put them to work in our lives while doing Kingdom of God ministry and tasks. We want all these to transform us into obedient Disciples of Jesus. Thus the title Obedience Transformation. Listen to the Holy Spirit as we read these Scriptures. Let Holy Spirit bury the seeds of the Word into our fertile hearts.
1 Samuel 15:22 (NKJV)
So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams
Genesis 22 (NKJV)
Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.” So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together. Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.” And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
English Standard Version (Chapter 3) Malachi
The Book of Remembrance
16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name. 17 “They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. 18 Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.
The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language (Chapter 3) Malachi
16 Then those whose lives honored GOD got together and talked it over. GOD saw what they were doing and listened in. A book was opened in God’s presence and minutes were taken of the meeting, with the names of the GOD-fearers written down, all the names of those who honored GOD’s name. 17–18 GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies said, “They’re mine, all mine. They’ll get special treatment when I go into action. I treat them with the same consideration and kindness that parents give the child who honors them. Once more you’ll see the difference it makes between being a person who does the right thing and one who doesn’t, between serving God and not serving him.”
Pastor concluding thoughts
“ To obey is better than sacrifice.” 1 Sam15:22
Malachi 3 is learning to get in the spiritual flow of obedience.
There is much reward for being obedient from a submissive and joyful heart.
We need to listen to Holy Spirit instruct, lead, and prepare us for Kingdom Work in Christ Jesus.
Abraham was willing to sacrifice Issac his only Son, and passing his test The Angel of the Lord was satisfied that Abraham would comply and hold nothing more important than his full obedience from a faithful heart.
Really dwell on the books and records being kept on our conversations. Meditate on the Things of God , then talk about it with another Believer.
be TRANSFORMED into an OBEDIENT disciple ministering in the Kingdom of God.
Pentecost Sunday Comments
This is Pentecost Sunday. The Hebrew celebration of the annual harvest festival. It is a Christian holiday which celebrates God pouring out the Holy Spirit on the Church of Believers in and on Jesus as Messiah or in the english “The Christ, Gods Anointed One”.
Holy Spirit fell on and in the Disciples of Jesus as flames of fire.
Holy Spirit fell on and in the Apostles as flames of fire.
All in attendance spoke in several different languages that they had not learned or had been taught. The Bible referred to this as speaking in tongues. It was the languages of those who were at Jerusalem for the Pentecost Holy day. Many heard the disciples speaking the praises of God and speaking the mysteries of God.
Baptism into the Holy Spirit is Jesus “ dipping Us” into the Holy Spirit much like a preacher or elder baptising a believer into the water and lifting them up again.
Baptism into the Holy Spirit is almost always followed up with speaking in “ tongues” of angels or humans.
Have you been baptised in the Holy Spirit by Jesus yet? do you want to be?
Peter preached with power and authority, with signs and wonders. God added to the Church
