John 11:25 KJV 1900
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
One of the most statements in the WORD of GOD.
Resurrection - a- na- stasis - raising up. the change of state from being dead to being alive; understood as a corpse that been laying down now standing up.
Life - zoe - the condition of living or state of being alive; especially healthiness, happiness, exuberance, energy , vitality, and the like.
In order to become healthy kingdom citizens we must have a revelation of this prophetic promise that Jesus gave to those that believe.
During these times the church needs to be constantly remained of the the promises, benefits, and empowerment God has given us.
The purpose of this message is to help the church to gain confidence, trust, in out LORD and Savior.
We are living in a day in time the church has lost confidence in Jesus due to disappointment.
As we examine the context of the text . Martha was disappointed, upset, and beginning to doubt the genuine friendship covenant withe Jesus.
Let look at the text.
Jesus heard the news of Lazarus sickness yet he did not respond immediately.
John 11:5 KJV 1900
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
If Jesus love them why did he not respond immediately?
Why did Jesus delay the demonstration of his power?
Lazarus was already four days when Jesus showed.
Why did Martha doubt and question Jesus? Why she offended with Jesus?
Because Jesus was Lazarus friend, they hung out together. Stayed in each other home.
Lazurus helped financed Jesus
Martha served Jesus
Mary sat at Jesus feet
That had a close relationship
She was offended because she saw Jesus heal multitudes.
She saw him heal strangers- and even people for other cultures (like the centurion soldier servant)
She even saw him sent the Word, but he did not do any of these things for his friend.
Beware of the Martha and Mary syndrome
The church is going though Martha went going through. This is state of many believers today.
So much grief, so much, they are saying where is God?
This post pandemic culture is going through post traumatic stress.
Why did God people suffer, experience loss? I though he was my friend.
How did Jesus respond to Martha syndrome ; how did he encounter the family?
John 11:17–26 KJV 1900
17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already. 18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off: 19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. 21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. 23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
T
Mary was also disappointed with Jesus she was do grieved that she did not say or had hope that Lazarus could raise again.
John 11:27–37 (KJV 1900)
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. 28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee. 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him. 30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him. 31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there. 32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, 34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! 37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
Jesus wept not only because of the human suffering he saw but he wept because of the unbelief.
To overcome the Martha and Mary syndrome the the church must understand the God has the power of life and death.
He has the power resurrected dead situations , dead works, dead belief, dead thoughts. These are works ,though, beliefs and that separate from God .
Ephesians 3:20 KJV 1900
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Mark 9:23 KJV 1900
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Jesus is the resurrection- He can raise us from dead works, old ways 2 Cor 5:17
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV 1900
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The church need to see the bigger picture and understand that death is not the end for believer.
Jesus used the death of his friend to provide that he is the redeemer of man kinds
He waited four days to show that He had authority and power over all sickness and death.
He waited four days to show that he will raise all that believe up and give them a gloried body.
He waited four days to show that we can TRUST Him know matter what
Job 19:25–27 KJV 1900
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, Yet in my flesh shall I see God: 27 Whom I shall see for myself, And mine eyes shall behold, and not another; Though my reins be consumed within me.
We need to that no mater what out redeemer lives and he has given eternal life and will raise up up from anything tries to separate us from Hill.
Romans 8:35–39 KJV 1900
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Stand to your feet and declare I know my redeemer lives.
Rededicate your love, commitment to Him today.
