Text: Psalms 27:1-6
Psalm 27:1–6 KJV 1900
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, They stumbled and fell. 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. 5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock. 6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
Beloved,
Life has a way, of putting us in situations, that may seemingly cause a bit of fear.
If I were to poll the room this morning,
All of us could think of a time in our lives, where a situation arose causing fear to creep in
We all have had a fear before.
A fear of failure.
A fear of embarrassment
A fear of messing up
A fear of not coming out of this situation
A fear of losing everything we have.
We all have had a situation that caused fear before.
A time where we had more days left in the month than we had in our bank account.
A time where we had a problem in the marriage and we couldn’t see a way to make it out.
A time where our children were acting up, and we started to fear for their futures.
A time where you didn’t study all you need to, but there was still a test on the horizion
We all have had some fears at some point.
But it is my belief,
That God allows us to go through different ages and stages of our lives that may cause fear, so that we can build our hope and our trust in him.
and I furthermore believe
That God uses these situations, to eliminate fear out of our lives.
So that what we were once fearful of, We are now fearless in.
and it is this text that Gives us a testimony of why we should be fearless even when life’s circumstances seems to be at their worst.
It is david who writes The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
David is first of all

1. Confident in God’s Power

God’s Personal Illumination.
David says the Lord is MY LIGHT.
This is a personal illumination.
When David says the Lord is MY LIGHT,
what David is saying, is that the LORD brought HIS LIGHT, into MY LIFE.
It’s easy to be “fearless” when there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
but it’s hard to be fearless, when darkness surrounds you.
It’s easy to be fearless when everyone’s healthy,
but it’s hard to be fearless, when sickness comes your way.
It’s easy to be fearless when your circle is happy
but It’s hard to be fearless when conflict is in the room
It’s easy to be fearless when your bills are paid,
but it’s hard to be fearless when your bills are due and the money isn’t making sense.
Its easy to be fearless when the marriage is going great,
but its hard to be fearless, when the marriage is on the rocks.
But what makes "Being fearless” easy is knowing that you’re not going through this by yourself.
that every step in the dark I take, the Lord is with me with his light.
THE BIBLE SAYS
Psalm 16:8 KJV 1900
8 I have set the Lord always before me: Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
THE BIBLE SAYS
Psalm 23:4 KJV 1900
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
THE BIBLE SAYS
Psalm 124:1 KJV 1900
1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, Now may Israel say;
IM CONFIDENT in Gods LIGHT
because God’s light guides me through Dark Situations.
He says Im confident because of personal ILLUMINATION.
but then he says I’m confident because of
2. Personal Salvation
He says the Lord is MY salvation.
This is BOTH a physical salvation and a spiritual salvation.
He says i’m confident in the POWER OF GOD, BECAUSE HE HAS THE POWER TO LIGHT UP MY LIFE,
BUT then I’m confident in the POWER of God because he has the power to SAVE MY LIFE.
and David is saying
HE Saved my life LITERALLY and he saved MY life ETERALLY.
When I was on the run from Saul, he saved me literally.
When I messed up and slept with bathsheba, he saved me eternally
When I defeated goalith, He saved me literally,
When I killed bathsheeba’s husband, he saved me eternally.
There’s something about a physical salvation,
that yes God saved me through some of the worst seasons of my life,
but thats nothing compared to God saving me eternally.
This is not a shout for those who are perfect, but this is a shout for those who have messed UP IN LIFE.
THE LORD BEING YOUR SALVATION MEANS THAT THE LORD PROVIDED A WAY OF ESCAPE FROM ETERNAL DAMNATION.
I’M CONFIDENT BECAUSE THE LORD IS MY
A. PERSONAL ILLUMINATION AND PERSONAL SALVATION,
BUT I’M ALSO CONFIDENT BECAUSE HE’S MY
3. PERSONAL fortification.
he says THE LORD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY LIFE.
He is not just saying the Lord gives me strength, but the Lord IS MY STRENGTH.
that why I can do like paul and
Boast in my infirmities that the power of CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME, BECAUSE WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN AM I STRONG.
HIS STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN MY WEAKNESS.
This fortification means “A defensive wall or other reinforcement built to strengthen a place against attack”
In other words. The Lord strengthens me so, that when an attack comes my way, I’m able to handle it because There’s a wall between me and it.
When sickness comes my way there’s a wall between me and it
When depression comes my way there’s a wall between me and it
when Life throws curve balls, there’s a wall between me and it.
and Though I’m in it, God is taking all of the licks.
NOT ONLY IS DAVID CONFIDENT IN GOD’S POWER,

2. CRAVES GOD’S PRESENCE

David says,
ONE THING. that I desire of the Lord, that I may seek, is that I may dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life. to behold his beauty.
One thing that kept David sane
One thing that kept David humble
One thing that Kept David successful
Was David’s need for God’s presence.
David was a king who never craved POWER.
David was a KING who craved presence.
EVEN in his flaws, he knew how to find the presence of God.
despite the bad decisions, he craved for God’s presence.
He says ONE THING THAT I DESIRE, is to DWELL.
HE WANTS TO LIVE IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
AND
If you want to be successful in life,
If you want to be successful in ministry,
If you want to be a successful parent
If you want to be a successful child
If you want to be a successful person,
YOU NEED TO CRAVE TO BE IN HIS PRESENCE,
The only way to OPEN GOD’s HAND AND HEAR GOD’S VOICE, is TO SEEK HIS FACE.
THE BIBLE SAYS
IF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, WILL HUMBLE THEM SELVES AND PRAY, SEEK MY FACE, TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS.
THEN THEY WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN
I WILL FORGIVE THEIR SINS
I WILL HEAL THEIR LAND.
the bible says
Psalm 1 KJV 1900
1 Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
THE SECRET TO BEING FEARLESS IS TO TO NEVER STOP SEEKING GOD’S PRESENCE.
DAVID SAYS
ONE THING THAT I DESIRE,
ONE THING, THAT I CRAVE
ONE THING, THAT I LONG FOR
ONE THING, THAT I NEED
ONE THING, THAT I CANT LIVE WITHOUT,
ONE THINKG THAT I CANT SLEEP WITH OUT,
ONE THING THAT I CANT PREACH WITHOUT
ONE THING THAT I CANT WORK WITHOUT
ONE THING THAT I CANT LIVE WITHOUT IS THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD.
HE CRAVES GOD’S PRESENCE.
not only is he confident is God’s power,
not only does he crave for God’s presence
but David is FEARLESS BECAUSE
HE’S

3. Covered under God’s Pavilion

he says “For in the time of trouble, HE SHALL HIDE ME”
In times of despair and in times of dismay,
It’s good to know that we don’t have to worry or fret.
David gives an assurance, that because of my confidence in his power and my craving of his presence, I access to his pavilion.
SO I’M FEARLESS BECAUSE WHEN TROUBLES COME MY WAY, I HAVE SOMEWHERE TO GO.
What is it, that’s in his Pavilion.
I find
1. Solace in his pavillion.-He said in the time of trouble, He shall hide me. IN the secrete place.
Which means I don’t have to worry about my enemies attacking me, because I’m in the secret place.
I find Solace in the secrete place.
The Bible says
Psalm 91:1 KJV 1900
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2. Strength in his pavilion- the bible says and MY head shall be lifted up. even though my enemies are all around me.
Not only do I find SOLICE in the secret place
NOT ONLY DO I FIND STRENGTH IN THE SECRETE PLACE
but there’s SINGING in the secrete place.
He says I will offer, sacrifices of praise in his tabernacle.
He says I will sing YES. unto God.
and there should be some one here who can say I’m singing in the secret place.
what is your song?
I will bless, the Lord at all times, his praises shall
what is your song?
Your grace and mercy brought me through
what is your song
amazing grace how sweet the sound
what is your song,
I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore very deeply stayed within sinking to rise no more,
but the master, of the sea.
Is there anyone who can say IM COVERED, in his pavillion.
