Lead not Driven
Lead not Driven
Recap:
Moses Sacrificed his promised-land to anger and disobedience
He caused other to not enter the promise-land as well and delayed the younger generation their land
WHEN YOU GET IMPATIENT WITH GOD’s TIMING IN YOUR LIFE, YOU CAN START TO CREATE IDOLS OUT OF YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING
Lets look at a positive example
1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”
Insert Problem: The person you love is sick
Emotions flood in and want you to make a choice
Event+Response= OUTCOME
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” –Victor Frankl
So many times we don’t choose our behaviors, we act them out
Instead of stopping we find ourselves in a reaction that can be unfavorable
This is a glorified temper tantrum
Events will happen, your response it what you make of them
A fruit of the spirit isn’t a quick response
4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
His response was to focus on faith
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
When the circumstance didn’t look good
When the outcome doesn’t look like what you planned
We hold onto it to obtain a good testimony
Jesus could’ve went negative here like the rest of the people around him
He could’ve let the emotions of the situation take control but what did He do?
I believe what you say when hear something, you’re first response should be to speak in response
Doctors gave you a bad report, you speak God’s word
The enemy wants to bring up your past, you speak what God’s word says about you
Looks like you started your business in the wrong economy, THere’s an open heaven above my life
Look what Jesus does here:
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.
