Introduction
Welcome!
Theme Activity
Tell children that the words on the poster are the nine fruit of the spirit-character traits or qualities that develop in us as we grow in our relationship with Jesus.
Have children walk around and look for the different fruit of the spirit cards
Repeat for each card
Love - We should love everyone as God loves us.
“Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14.
Joy-We can be joyful in every situation because we know that God wants what is best for us.
“Rejoice in the Lord and be glad.” Psalm 32:11.
Patience-We should have patience and not complain when we have to wait or when things don’t go our way.
“Be patient when you have troubles.” Romans 12:12.
Kindness-We should be nice to everyone.
“Be kind to one another.” Ephesians 4:32.
Goodness-We should choose to do the right thingws.
“Let us do good to everyone.” Galatians 6:10.
Faithfulness-We should not ever stop trying to do the right things.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” John 14:15.
Gentleness-We should care for others who are smaller and weaker than we are.
“Be completely humble and gentle.” Ephesians 4:2.
Self-control-We should think before we act or speak.
“Let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.” James 1:19.
Song #1: I am Growing
Seat children in a circle on the floor.
Demonstrate passing a beanbag around the circle, then passing it the opposite direction.
Play Demo 3, and have children begin to pass the beanbag. Tell the children to hold the beanbag when the music stops. When the music resumes, have children pass the opposite direction.
Pause and resume the music several times.
Echo sing each two-measure phrase in section A.
Review the fruit of the Spirit by referring to the theme poster. Substitute fruit such as love, joy, etc. for smile in measure 7.
