Galatians 5:22-23
“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

I. OUR DESIGN

I AM A SPIRIT THAT HAS A SOUL THAT LIVES IN THE BODY
1 THES. 5:23
“23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
BODY: IS OUR PHYSICAL MAKE UP THAT ALLOWS US TO INTERACT WITH THE NATURAL WORLD.
IT CAN BE A HOLY TEMPLE THAT HOST THE HOLY SPIRIT
IT CAN BE A CORRUPTED SLUM
I COR. 6:19
“19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?”
SOUL: IS THE REALM OF DECISION
IT CONTAINS THE MIND, WILL, PERSONALITY AND EMOTIONS
IT IS THE NEUTAL GROUND BETWEEN THE BODY AND THE SPIRIT.
IT IS THE PLACE THAT FREE WILL IS EXERCISED
THE WICKED HAVE SOULS
PROVERBS 21:10 “10 The soul of the wicked desires evil; His neighbor finds no favor in his eyes.”
THE GODLY HAVE SOULS
3 JOHN 1:2 “2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”
SPIRIT: IS YOUR CONNECTION WITH GOD
IT IS THE INTER MOST BEING
IT IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR IDENTITY
IT IS THE DEEPEST PART OF YOU
IT CAN HAVE THE MOST INTIMATE FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD
I COR. 2:10-12 “10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,”
No one knows our thoughts like the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit knows God’s thoughts and will
Everything there is to know about God the Holy Spirit knows
Every believer has and internal and eternal relationship with God.

II. Pre Spirit / Pentecost

john 8:34 “34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.”
col 2:13 “13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,”
Our Spirit is corrupted / dead until we take Jesus as our Savior
It is so dangerous to allow our soul to be influenced by the world, it will be/is corrupted without Jesus.
our conscious is very chaotic before Jesus, we have no moral True North.
what is your moral baseline prior to knowing Jesus?
Accepted Societal Norms (Which are so often opposite of God)
Rom. 8:5-8 “5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Pentecost takes place 50 days after Easter and 10 days after Jesus Ascension.
It celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples. As foretold by Jesus
John 15:26-27 “26 “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, 27 and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”

III. Spirits Collide 1

As the Spirit educates the believer’s conscience with the things of God, the personal standard formed by the conscience begins to align with the standard of revealed truth. As a result, the renewed inner man becomes increasingly in tune with the will of God.
ROM 8:9-11
“9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT:

What is fruit?
It is the result of growth and maturity
Galatians 5:22-23
“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
