out of Reverence for Christ

Wives Submit to your Husbands v.22-24

As to the Lord

Husband is head

As the church - so with you

Husbands Love your Wives v. 25-28

As Christ - so with you

Gave himself

To present her perfect v. 27a

sanctifying, cleansing, baptism,

Without spot, blemish, holy blameless

Love her like your own body

This is the Gospel 29-32

Christ loves the church as His own body v.29, 30

Genesis 2:24 ESV

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Mystery is profound -

marriage is an archetype of the Gospel - Christ and the church
