Gods provision comes from two words. Pro which means for and Vision. When we have a God vision for our life that God is for he brings the resources to accomplish that vision.
John G Lake was making 50,000 a year in the early 1900’s which is equivalent to making 2,000,000 a year in today dollars.
John’s boss gave him 3 months off to preach however his boss told him that “ at the end of the three months, $50,000 a year will look like a lot to you, and you will have little desire to sacrifice it for the dreams of religious possibilities.”
Once the 3 months had passed he would boldly declare, “I am through forever with everything in life but the proclamation and demonstration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”
( I said something similar when I left my last employer I worked for in 2007. I will never work for someone else ever again. It wasn’t a bad place to work, I had a great boss, and nothing was wrong.) It was in my heart to say that. The Bible says if you speak it from the heart and believe the things you say will come to pass you shall have what you say.
In 1907 John and his family disposed of their estate, their wealth, and their possessions. In a great move of faith, they determined to be entirely dependent on God.
After that God spoke to John Lake to go to Africa in the spring time that year. When he told his wife she said that God made her aware of the plan as well.
John began to pray and believe God because the tickets cost $2000 to travel to Africa. He recieved a prophetic word from a friend who said he would have it in 4 days.
On the 4th day he recieved money for the tickets but had no extra money for the expenses of the trip. He only had a $1.50 in his hand and God provided for them on their ride. The migration laws of south Africa at the time required $125 or they wouldn’t be permitted to to leave the ship. As they pulled into the port Lakes wife asked what are we going to do?
Lake said “I’m going to line up with the rest of them. We have obeyed God this far. It is now up to the Lord.” As they where in line a fellow passenger took John aside and handed him $200.
The last thing is they needed a place to stay. As faith missionaries they had no support from churches back home and no denomination waiting to accept them at their arrival. A woman who they didn’t know approached them at the dock and asked how many people were in their family? Lake said my wife, myself, and seven children. She said “you are the family. She went on to explain that God had directed her to meet their boat and that on it would an American missionary family consisting of two adults and seven children. And that she was to give them a home.
Waiting on God’s timing is very important. Our call from God was established before we wer born. As we grow in like, we are invited to become aware of it. But just being aware of god’s calling doesn’t mean it is the time for that call to be launched into the earth. Divine timing must come before full time vocational ministry can begin. So don’t be discouraged during your time of preparation. And don’t compare your call with the call of others. Each call has its own timing and plan. Your faithfulness to the Word of God, along with fervent spiritual preparation determines the timing.
These stories remind us that God is always in control and that He is always willing to provide for those who trust in Him.
If you are facing financial difficulties, don't give up hope. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think. Put your trust in Him and He will provide for you.
Here are some additional tips for experiencing financial miracles:
Pray and ask God for provision. Let Him know your needs, and trust that He will answer.
Be obedient to God's commands. When God tells you to do something, do it, even if it doesn't make sense at the time.
Give generously to others. When you give to others, you are opening yourself up to receive from God.
Have faith. Believe that God will provide for you, even when things seem impossible.
Remember, God is a good God, and He loves to bless His children. If you are trusting in Him, He will provide for you in ways that you never imagined.
