INTRODUCTION
Last week we discussed the Ascension of Jesus. How His ascension was Jesus taking his rightful throne to rule over all creation both physical and spiritual.
Now that Jesus is seated on His throne all authority in Heaven and Earth has been given to Him. And He will reign until allHis enemies are put under His feet.
TODAY IS PENTECOST SUNDAY!

50 days after the resurrection of Jesus
10 days after His ascension.
The day the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Church -
Tongues of fire
Wind
New languages
Preaching of the Gospel with power
Thousands of salvations and baptisms.
It is also, the day the Jewish people celebrated the offering of the first fruits - thanking God for the first Harvest.
And the day, the Jewish people celebrated Moses bringing the law of God down from Yahweh to give to the Hebrew people.
BUT DID YOU KNOW THERE IS NO PENTECOST SUNDAY FOR CHRISTIANS IF JESUS DID NOT ASCEND TO HIS THRONE?

Today, I want to show you how the ascension of Jesus directly ties into the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!

I am going to give you a lot of scriptures today and briefly talk through them, and then make a couple points.

“It will come about after this
That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
“Even on the male and female servants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
“I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth,
Blood, fire and columns of smoke.
“The sun will be turned into darkness
And the moon into blood
Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
“And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Will be delivered;
For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
There will be those who escape,
As the Lord has said,
Even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.
“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
“I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;
that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;
but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.
“For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day;
but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel:
‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says,
‘That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
And your young men shall see visions,
And your old men shall dream dreams;
Even on My bondslaves, both men and women,
I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit
And they shall prophesy.
‘And I will grant wonders in the sky above
And signs on the earth below,
Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.
‘The sun will be turned into darkness
And the moon into blood,
Before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come.
‘And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
“This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.
“Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.
But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
Therefore it says,
“When He ascended on high,
He led captive a host of captives,
And He gave gifts to men.”
(Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth?
He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

4 REASONS JESUS POURED OUT THE HOLY SPIRIT ON HIS CHURCH.

This is not exhaustive but rather four categories.
1. Holiness - Jesus poured out the author of the law into our hearts. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live rightly before a Holy God.
2. Grow his Church in Unity around Jesus. The Holy Spirit speaks only of Jesus or for Jesus. He gives gifts to the Church to build the church in unity around Jesus.
3. So Jesus can expand His reign over all peoples by the Spirit through His Church. Supernatural power to take the Gospel to all people.
4. So, Jesus can minister to His people by the power of the Holy Spirit through His people.
THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE CHURCH IS THE REIGN OF CHRIST IN AND THROUGH HIS CHURCH.

the Spirit is the wisdom, power, authority, knowledge, holiness, and kindness of Jesus.

JESUS HAS MADE YOU, HIS CHURCH THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
JESUS HAS MADE YOU, HIS CHURCH THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
JESUS ASCENDED TO HIS THRONE TO RULE AND HE POURED OUT HIS SPIRIT TO BE ENTHRONED IN OUR HEARTS, THAT HE MAY REIGN OVER US IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.
WHERE EVER YOU GO - YOU ARE A TEMPLE OF THE HS
You’re not a shack. You’re a temple.
You’re not you’re own - you are His temple.

APPLICATION:
WHEN JESUS IS ENTHRONED, HE POURES OUT HIS HOLY SPIRIT.
WHEN JESUS IS ENTHRONED, HE POURES OUT HIS HOLY SPIRIT.
Today maybe some of you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Like the first converts the answer is always the same.
Today you need to submit to Jesus as Lord, give yourself to Him, and He will pour His Spirit out into you.
SOME OF YOU TODAY NEED A FRESH FILLING OF THE HS.
ENTHRONE JESUS IN YOUR PRAISES AND IN YOUR HEART.
And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
You want revival – enthrone the Lord in our Praise
You want to see miracles – enthrone the Lord in Praise
You want courage to share the Gospel of Jesus – enthrone the Lord in your praise
You want holiness – enthrone the Lord in your hearts
You want to see society changed – enthrone the Lord in your hearts AND FAITHFULLY FOLLOW HIM AS LORD.
TODAY THE HOLY SPIRIT IS READY TO BE POURED OUT INTO YOUR LIFE.
IF YOU WANT THE SPIRIT OF GOD ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS ASK!
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”
