Psalm 1:1–3 (NASB95)
1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season. And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.
Ill: Church sign that said. God wants full-custody not just weekend visits. Are we being faithful servants in daily practice?
Transition: After looking at how we need to be a Faithful Servant in devoted daily practice. how about being devoted in times of injustice. Which I mean times of pain/loss/and or accusation
Devoted in times of Injustice (1:13-21)
Possessions Loss:
500 Oxen (taken by Sabeans)
500 Female donkeys (taken by Sabeans)
7,000 Sheep (Fire from “god”)
3,000 Camels (Taken by The Chaldeans)
A Lot Of Servants (Most slaughtered)
Family Loss:
7 Sons (Died by house collapse)
3 Daughters (Died by house collapse)
Physical health seen as judgment of sin (2:7)
Wife turns against God (2:9)
Righteousness Questioned:
Satan = It's because of blessing that he worships you
Eliphaz = You reap what you sow. Implied Job got what he deserved and in a sense blamed Job for his children's death.
Bildad = You are not measuring up to God's standard of blessing Implied Job's children had sinned therefore... calls Job a hypocrite.
Zophar = makes three accusations against Job: Job is guilty of sin (Job 11:1-4); Job is ignorant of God (vv. 5-12); and Job is stubborn in his refusal to repent (vv. 13-20).He twisted Job's words (11:4), told him he talked too much, called him a liar (11:2,3) and even told him he deserved worse (11:5,6) than he got. He told Job he would die if he did not repent.
With friends like these, who needs terrorists?
—Mr. Hornick
Ill: In times like this it is hard to understand why (miscarriage)
6:4 For the arrows of the Almighty are within me; my spirit drinks their poison; God’s sudden terrors are arrayed against me.
Can you handle hardship or injustice by yourself?
Stand firm in Faith shaking pain.

Ill: The more that we strived though hurt to strive towards God. The more peace and comfort we got from God. I can’t think of more comforting than God Himself coming and talking to me.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (NASB95) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affiliation with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Transition: what helps us be faithful servants is God's grace, mercy, comfort as we are devoted in daily practices, devoted in times of injustice. And staying devoted until The Lord comes.
Conclusion:
(Jas 5:7–11)
7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. 8 You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. 9 Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. 10 As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.
We need to be faithful servants, men. It's a day by day practice through the hard days until we see our glorious Lord.
