A. Lot planned to reside in a tent near Sodom
12 Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom.
B. Lot was a righteous man as we see in 2 Peter 2:8
8 (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard);
However; Lot was slowly pulled into the goings on of the city.
C. V 1. Sitting in the gate denotes that Lot was in leadership or in standing within the community.

26 But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
B. A Couple of principles here for the believer.
There is no need for us to look back on a life that cannot benefit us. But we do!
There are always people “Behind us”, pay attention.

A. God remembers the intercessions of Abraham in verse 29. Lot and his family is saved.
14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him,
and he makes known to them his covenant.

B. Jude 7 gives us a vivid picture.
7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
