Relationship with ourselves
Relationship with ourselves
This is one of the most difficult relationships you will have
Why is it important:
8 Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.
How do we have a relationship with our self
How do we have a relationship with our self
Recognize who we are
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
God made us, and he loves us, he made us to be his creation and he made us beautifully
we believe that God make everything perfectly and beautifully we must realized that he didn't make a mistake with us. you are not the exception
Recognize whose we are:
Each one us are made in Gods image but not only that but we are made for God. we belong to him we are his chosen people
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Recognize who we are not
16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
we are not just sinners rather we are a temple that the presence dwells
we are not ugly, we are not a mistake, we are not unwanted, we are not unloved, we are not dirty, we are not a problem. we are the place that God chooses to live and dwell we are called his beloved.
24 even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?
Things that tear us apart
Things that tear us apart
there are so many things in this world that tear apart our relationship with ourselves and with others
Sexual immorality: There are sins we do in a very private sense that destroy our souls and pull us from God. none more pervasive the sexual immorality. clarify that sexuality is a God thing
any sexual relationship outside of marriage
porn, masturbation, lusting, sex
90% of boy and 70% of women have been exposed with roughly half having addictions
18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
Insecurity:
everyone you will ever meet deals with insecurity.
there is not a person you will meet that doesn't deal with this
I have my own, its hard growing up and being over weight and having a learning disability
Jesus loves us as we are.
Self Harm: eating disorder and cutting
these sins are harming something that belongs to God
you are far to loved to do these things
you are so valuable and if this is you i really pray that you learn to see your self as Jesus sees you
false control and lack of value
Over consumption of Media:
Phone use and video games can draw us away from reality
the average screen time of a youth is 7 hours 22 minutes this pulls us away from other relationships in our lives
increased phone usage leads to: lower self worth, body dysmorphia, increased anxiety, self harm pornography addictions, depression and sducidal thoughts
Bad relationships:
Bad relation ships pull us away from good ones and can destroy of worth value and self esteem
Find identify in christ alone
Find identify in christ alone
Most of these are an attempt to control aspects of our-lives that we simply cant control and cause us to have a negative relationship with ourselves
we live in a world where identity is everything. God has made us to long for this. however we miss place its
as christians our identity is in christ. we are children, friends, siblings and servants of God and thats where our identity comes from
