28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
The Message Bible Says it this way.
28–30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
How many of us know how to dance?
With dancing typically you have one lead and the other one is following.
I’m not a huge dancer at my wedding me and my wife danced like we had two left feet. Either both of us was trying to lead or both of us was following I dont know lol.
But following Christ is like this it is unforced rhythm of grace you are just allowing Jesus to lead you.
Doing our Credo series it is just the unforced rhythms of grace.
We are learning different aspects of who God is and what He has done and what He is planning to do.
We are going to learn new terms and theological words like.
We learn topics like what is the Bible? “Bibliology”
To the doctrine of salvation “Soteriology”
The doctrine of the church “Ecclesiology”
The doctrine of the end times “Eschatology”
Sanctification
The Trinity
Invite the teachers up at the end.
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
The purpose of gifted believers in the ministry is to equip other believers for the work of the ministry.
So how do they equip they equip them doctrinally and practically .
Equipping of the saints - katartizo same work used in Matt 4:21 “...mending their nets.” Mending or preparing nets. restore for proper use.
This is what the job of the Pastor teacher is to restore for proper use.
Gifted are to minster the word to others so they can get involved with the work.
2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
The goal of all of this Credo, is preparing us for ministry.
Equipping us for what He has called us to do.
Our goal as leaders are to equip the church
Eph 4:13 “13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;”
Gifted people are to minister till all the church attains three goals
the unity of the faith Eph 4:5 “5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;” How do we obtain this unity ? through the full knowledge of the Son of God Eph 1:17 “17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,”
a mature man/ believers Eph 4:13 “13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;”
the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Me operating in my gifts inside the church. Inside the body .Eph 4:7 “7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.”
This is actually Gods divine order in the church . It starts with unity. Unity is the foundational understanding that I have no other motives outside of knowing and revealing Christ to my brothers or sisters .
14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
Without doctrine this is the result
16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;
DOCTRINE. In the OT the word occurs chiefly as a translation of leqaḥ, meaning ‘what is received’ (Dt. 32:2; Jb. 11:4; Pr. 4:2; Is. 29:24). The idea of a body of revealed teaching is chiefly expressed by tôrâ, which occurs 216 times and is rendered as ‘law’.
In the NT two words are used. didaskalia means both the act and the content of teaching.
didachē is used in more parts of the NT. It too can mean either the act or the content of teaching
