Biggest obstacle to you becoming fully devoted follower of Christ is desire to fit in - God did not call to fit in - but stand out - to be Different.
If call on Christ - You have gone through a change;
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
We have moved from Death, to life - There has been a change - Even if Christian whole life; last week-
Pulled in different directions - Most of us have things that cling on - and Most of us had very different priorities before we where a christian to after we have been a christian 0r maybe not?
What we do sometimes is draw a line “Christian life” |“Other life” - not what’s intended for you.
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
Don’t keep doing what you use to do - You’re called to be…Different.

What we’re going to do is look at where we are called to be different and try and align our Will with that of the Fathers.
Title: Different Priorities for a different calling
My Hope: Your priorities, what you put first changes when you call on the name of Christ - That there is freedome for you on the other side of godly priorities.

On other side of Peter verse
since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
You’re biggest calling is to be Holy - Haggis - Set apart - Different to the world -
Not happy - When we believe that God wants us happy above all else - We move into “Personal justification” - Risk, inconvinience, delay couldn’t be God;’s will. we move into worhshipping false idols that Jesus warned us about - money - sex etc.
Fall into “adam and Eve trap” - “Did God really say” |
“I’m a lot better than most people” |
Most people not standard - Jesus is - Called to be…Different.
Not Outward behavioural modification - This is inward spiritual transformation
Instead of Happy - He promises Everlasting Joy, LIFE that is truly LIFE, eternity with him. The goal is not“DO” | get close to to the “Who” | the WHO is Jesus;
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
God does not exist to serve us - we exist to serve HIM and been called to be SET APART. If we are set apart, it means our priorities will be different to world.
Our Kids - Teach them to Follow Christ - Courage to be different.
Let’s dive into Story about Jesus - Then some real practical steps around alligning our Priorities.
Jesus was differenet;
There was story - Remember Jesus had just healed the centurian’s boy with a Word - Then there’s a funeral - in NAin - The son is being rolled out open casket - Law - Could not touch the Dead -
As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
Saw her - Compassion on her - What does that look like?
Jesus sees into your situation as well - and wants to give you compassion - Wants to take you from Death to Life - but the way He will do that, will be…Different.
An unholy condition requires a Holy antitode to make holy
Something needs to change - The way he deals with you is different - and the way you are meant to deal with him, with others and in this world - is to be DIFFERENT as a result of the way he deals with you.
Romans - First 11 chapters is all about the Gospel -
Then it flicks over
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Because you have TASTED and SEEN - Holiness is not the way to knowing Christ - Knowing Christ is the way to Holiness.
You need to understand -
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
You are His workmanship - Made for something Different.
You no longer live for the world - You live for Christ;
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.
What profit? What good?
Even Jesus - Had to say no to the world - To say Yes to His FAther
And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.”
Listen - In this world, but not of this world - What does this mean - When you are saved - Something changes;
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Not just transferred from Hell to Heaven - But given a bigger purpose - created for a bigger purpose.
Set minds on things above and not eartly things - with christ who is your LIFE - You’ve been spiritually joined wiht Chirst - but time to burn on earth - So let’s get priorities right.
**That’s all really great Pastor, but PRACTICALLY what do I Do - I’m still figuring out if I should go to work Monday.
Who’s ever got priorities wrong?

3 areas - Here we go (went through with YA’s)
This is about - You have time here, you know where you’re going - but how do you frame up time here;
3 areas
Requirements - Things required to do
Desires/Passions - Things you desire and are passionate about doing
Purpose - What are you created to do - all have same Purpose - Created BY God and FOR GOD. - However you have different giftings - Your vocation is not your purpose.
These 3 things change when you are saved - the issue is, sometimes we are really invested in these things.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
We are new creation - Saved from Death, Seated in Heaven, Joined with Christ, with a new purpose - New Desire - New Requirements.
What’s purpose?
Adam and eve | Created to be in relationship with Him | Relationship with each other | Steward God’s creation - Work not product of fall - Work is a God given purpose in life.
How does this relate to you? You have been given a purpose to Know God - to Know God’s People and to Steward God’s Creation.
Now, there was fall, death, and then Jesus Christ death and resurreciton - 4th thing was added - Now you have a Gift to further God’s Church.
Spiritual gift by which you can build up God’s Church.
Now we have 4 main purposes;
Relationship with God | Relationship with Each other | steward something | 4th to discover your Holy Spirit Gift that God wants you to use to build the Church of Jesus Christ.
And all of this is to Give God Glory - Yes, of course - how do you do that? By being in a relationship with him, by Knowing Him.
Knowing and Being is different from Earning and Doing.
Once we work out our Purpose, the rest can start to fill itself out.
Purpose - Know God - Be awesome if your Desire was to know God - but it’s actually required of you to KNOW God - and if you don’t you’ll be held accountable.
You have a purpose worship him - Desire to worship him - guess what - Required to worhsip him.

then we look at Giftings - I have a gift to Preach - I actually love Preaching , and I am actually required to Preach - guess what, created for it.remi
I love Golf - I am actually required to Sabbath - my Purpose is to spend intentional time with God.
Suddenly - Our Priorities start to become really clear - Red Hot Middle.

What does it look like for your life to be ruled by Godly Priorities? Do what you have been gifted to do, but do it under the grand process that God has given you -
What do we do?
Start with Purpose
Know God - Commit to getting into his Word - Wake up, find the Father
Know each other - Commit to community - You know why it’s hard to get to a growth group? Because there is growth and the enemy hates it.
Take Responsability to steward what God has given you. What is it? It’s not what you do - It’s the gift that you’re stewarding - You’re taking care of it
Remind yourself of whose you are. I am a disciple of Jesus, Husband, Father and I am using my gifts as an electrician.
Find the Father
Today Lord, i’m going to bring you Glory, through my integrity, through my stewardship, through kindness - I ask for a Devine Appointment - Put someone in my path today, but thank you, that you’ve given me this gift to provide for my family.
Set your mind on things above.
You have been built different - Made differnet - are different - What we are building here is different to the world and we need different people than the world to keep building it.
Paul saying to Timothy - Not for pastors..
who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,
It’s not otward behaviour modification - it’s inward spiritual transformation - I am living for audience of 1 - Don’t be religious - set the bar low - and submit yourself, because Jesus submitted himself.
He came with a different mission | Not a mission of distruction but of Love | Not to wack us around with sticks but to extend grace | He didn’t come to live, he came to DIE so that we, through his death may live.
Next few weeks, journey with me as we look at how to be different in a changing world.
Let’s submit to different - Let’s lean into it, and let’s let Jesus build His kingdom through us.
