We are Eyewitnesses

Peter states that what he shares about Christ are not made up fairy tales. He was an eyewitness of the majesty and power of God.
A person can tell a story about something that may have happened, but when they are eyewitnesses of what happened their story becomes more credible. I remember I saw an accident one time and I stayed around until the police arrived. He asked me “did you see what happened?’ Why did he ask me that? Because an eyewitness has a first hand account of the incident.
Peter had a first hand account of the power and majesty of Christ. He is referring to the mount of transfiguration. Luke 9:27-36
Luke 9:27–36 NASB95
“But I say to you truthfully, there are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.” Some eight days after these sayings, He took along Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming. And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah, who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him. And as these were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles: one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not realizing what he was saying. While he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!” And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent, and reported to no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.
Jesus claimed that there were people that were standing with him that would see the kingdom of heaven. these people were Peter, James and John.
They saw his face shine with the glory of God and His garment became a glowing white and he was speaking to Moses and Elijah. They were talking about Jesus crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. (He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem)
This is important when we understand why they were talking about what Jesus was going to accomplish. Moses represented the law and Elijah represented the prophets and Jesus fulfilled the law and the prophets in the death burial and resurrection.
Matthew 5:17 NASB95
“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
Luke 24:44 NASB95
Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
Peter wanted to build a tabernacle for the three of them but God said Luke 9:35
Luke 9:35 NASB95
Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”
Peter heard the voice of God claiming that Jesus is the Son of God. This means that they just saw the kingdom of God!

What are you an eyewitness too?

It is important that we witness what Christ is doing in our life. We must testify to our salvation. We must tell others what Christ has taught us in our past circumstances. We must tell others what Christ is doing in our lives right now. We must share the promises of the future of eternal life.
People want to hear your story. Especially your interactions with Jesus.

Pay Attention To the Prophetic Word

The prophetic word is the Scripture. The scriptures are God’s words. as Peter says in 2 Peter 1:21
2 Peter 1:21 NASB95
for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Light in darkness

We must know and understand the scriptures because they serve as a lamp shining in a dark place. This world that we live in is a dark world. We are living in an evil day. We are killing our own babies and violent crimes among people are sky-rocketing. We are embracing pornography, promoting homosexuality, and endorsing transgender-ism. We are more concerned with our money than we are our morality. We are taking God out of our public arenas and replacing Him with humanism. Folks the list goes on. We are living in evil dark days.
God’s Word is the only thing that will bring light into this dark world. It is not our government, not our schools, nor our economy that will bring light to our world. It must be the church that is devoted to the prophetic word of God. We cannot be silent any longer. We must be strong in our stance for biblical values.

Day dawns and morning star rises in our hearts

While we are here on earth we must be the light in the darkness, but there is coming a day when the day will dawn and the morning star will rise in our hearts. This world is a struggle that we face daily, but one day it will be over when we see Jesus. John 16:33
John 16:33 NASB95
“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
Though we have tough times in our lives we also have the promises of God of everlasting life. The troubles of this world will go away when we see the dawning of that day and the morning star before us. Rev. 21:3-4
Revelation 21:3–4 (NASB95)
And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
The Word of God is our hope for this world and our future. We would be wise to pay attention to it!

Interpret Scripture Rightly

2 Peter 1:20 NASB95
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,
We must not interpret scripture to our preferences but by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Scriptures are like numbers you can make them say what you want. This is not acceptable. God wrote the scriptures with one intention and a thousand applications. We cannot twist the scriptures to fit our beliefs. We must adjust our beliefs to the truth of scripture. 1 Cor. 2:10-16
1 Corinthians 2:10–16 NASB95
For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
The Spirit of God takes the truth of God that are found in the depths of God and teaches them to us. One must be a Christian in order to rightly interpret Scripture.
