Wretched Man

Romans 7:24
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?
spent 7 months coming to this point
I was subject to death
yet my inner being cries out that there is life
we choose life
Romans 8:1–4 NIV
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

No Condemnation

Romans 8:1 NIV
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
who will rescue me? is the cry of Paul
this is our call, each and every one of us
every human being has this deep despair
there must be something else?
is there a God?

Therefore

there is now
a point in time that has changed the human condition
a time when condemnation became no more
note that this is for those in Chris Jesus
the work of Jesus is the key

Legal Position

the sacrifice of Jesus was his ability to conquer death
Revelation 1:18 NIV
I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
Jesus declares that he has authority over death
there is the certainty of Jesus being raised from the dead
Romans 6:9–10 NIV
For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
victory over death by one sinless man means sin is defeated
there is no repeat act required
we are united with Jesus in death and in life

Freedom

Romans 8:2 NIV
because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
the two laws at work within each one of us
the law of the Spirit gives life
the law of sin can only bring death
the law comes when we submit to the Lordship of Jesus
we accept the fact of his selfless sacrifice

Work of Jesus

Romans 8:3 NIV
For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,
the law was helpless and powerless
the sin nature of man, our flesh, weakened the righteous nature of the law
the law was unable to save us which continues to this day
Jesus was in a man suit, and became the sin offering
Hebrews 9:22 NIV
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
this is why the power of the blood of Jesus is so important
and why it is so powerful

Righteous Condition

Romans 8:4 NIV
in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus
we live according to the Spirit
the righteous requirements of the law are now being met
this is our Hallelujah moment
eternal moment!
