Introduction of Matthew

Matthew, also called Levi was a hated tax collector.

He was a Jew working as a Roman tax collector

Often times tax collectors were very corrupt.

The Gospel of Matthew is believed to be written as early as 37 AD, Though most scholars think it could be written as late as 66 AD.

I personally believe its earlier because Matthew doesnt mention or allude Paul’s Revelation at all.
