This Text Records For Us The Delivering of The Gospel To The Gentiles
The message was to awaken the Gentile world about the World’s Only Redeemer
One who is not a respecter of persons - Acts 10:34
One who will accept any person in any nation who will fear him and work what is right - Acts 10:35
Peter in the shortest biography and most sweepingly accurate biography ever written says, “He went about doing good…”
We can learn from the accounts of his life (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) what he did when he went about doing good.
1. He Went About Preaching
1. He Went About Preaching
Mark 6:1-6 - Jesus Preaching The Truth Throughout The Villages in Galilee
What Preaching Does Good?
Truthful preaching
Truth can set you free - John 8:32
Truth is what sanctifies us - John 17:17
Filled with scriptures
Speak as the oracles of God - 1 Peter 4:11
Paul - Acts 17:2
“Preach the Word” - 2 Tim. 4:2
Balanced Preaching
Teaching with authority and power - Titus 2:15
The Gospel Must Be Preached
“Their voice has gone out to all the earth” - Rom. 10:18
Phillip went about preaching the word - Acts 8:4
The Apostle Paul said, “Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel” - 1 Cor. 9:16
Preaching the gospel is pleasing to God - 1 Cor. 1:18;21
We all need the gospel desperately! Without the gospel we would all be lost
2. He Went About Rebuking Error
2. He Went About Rebuking Error
No one can deny the fact that his rebuking error did good
He did not rebuke because of sheer pleasure
He rebuked error because it will cause souls to be lost
He rebuked error to rescue men and women from damnation
The purpose of his coming was to seek and save the lost - 1 Tim. 1:15
Anyone who oppose the truth and would keep truth from men and women must be rebuked
When we rebuke them, the error they teach will be exposed and condemned - John 8:32
In the great sermon on the mount in Matthew 7:15 it said, “beware of false prophets”
We must plant the good seed (the word of God) - Luke 8:11
But, the seed must have properly prepared soil in order for it to grow
We must rebuke error so that it is not hindering the gospel from being spread
Consider, Jesus rebukes to the most prominent religious group of his day
Matthew 23:3 - “They say and do not do”
Matthew 23:33, 38
Mark 12:24-27
3. He Went About Encouraging
3. He Went About Encouraging
Mark Records for us 4 of the 30 parables of our Lord
Mark 4:26-29
One day you will rejoice to know that your labor was not in vain - 1 Cor. 15:58
This great little parable gives so much encouragement to us
The Lord says, “sow the seed” —Let God Give the increase
1 Cor. 3:6
“The Lord added daily…” - Acts 2:47
Mark 6:50 - Jesus walked on the water and said, “Be of good cheer, It is i be not afraid”
John 14:1-3
John 14:27
4. He Went About Doing Good When He Defended God’s Marriage Arrangement
4. He Went About Doing Good When He Defended God’s Marriage Arrangement
Marriage was God’s 1st divine divine institution going back to Genesis 2
But, the Pharisees and Scribes had invented various kinds of loopholes and perversions to get around what God has said on marriage in Gen. 2
The scribe and the pharisees even went back and tried to argue that Moses had commanded divorcement when no such thing was the case
Jesus said from the very beginning “it was not so”
“One Man for One Women, For Life”
That’s the way God started it, the way he wants it, and Jesus said, “except it be for fornication or death there can be no remarriage that will please God.”
You know the marriage relationship was the first established divine institution
The Church is the second divinely established institution
Now do you believe that God (who is not an author of confusion) would have a conflict and contradiction between these two divine institutions?
That a person can break God’s divine arrangement in the marriage relationship and yet be a faithful member of the church?
5. He Went About Doing The Fathers Will
