Genesis 1:27 KJV 1900
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gather: A Mirror, a black wet erase marker, and a wet wipe.
What have we learned about today? Some tell me what your class lesson was about?
The Bible tells us that God created us in His image and in His likeness.
(Show your Mirror.) What is this?
What do I use a mirror for?
If I look in this mirror, I can see my image, can’t i? Can you see your image when you look in the mirror? So, What does it mean for us to be made in God’s image?
It means that when God looks at us, He wants to see Himself. He wants us to be like a Mirror reflecting back to Him His image, the image of Jesus Christ.
(Write on the mirror the word “God”.)
There, now when we look in the mirror, we see God. Right? So, When God looks at us, He wants to see Himself in us.
Do we all look like God? But God doesn’t have a body like we do? He is a Spirit. He doesn’t look like us. So how can God see Himself when He looks at us?
God wants to see Himself in how we behave. If we love other people and do the things He tell us in His Word, then we will begin to look like God by our actions. and God will see Himself in our mirrors.
God wants to look at us and see that we’re acting like Him. Then, He’ll say, “Yes, I can see Myself in (name some of the students). It will be like God is looking in a mirror because we’re acting just like He does.
When God made Adam and Eve like we learned about today. He could see Himself in the way they lived there lives.
But there came a day when they disobeyed God and sin entered their lives.
What is sin? Sin is anything we say, do, or even think that displeases God and breaks His law.
The Bible us that Sin is like was are unclean. Sin makes it hard for God to see himself in our lives.
(Mark all over the Mirror with the wet erase marker.)
The Bible tells us that Adam and Eve’s sin was passed down to everyone.
Romans 5:12 KJV 1900
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
and that everyone has the mark of sin in their mirrors
Romans 3:10 KJV 1900
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
So when God looks at our mirrors He can no longer see Himself in our image.
Sin separates us from God. We can’t be like His image because our our sins.
Romans 6:23 a (KJV 1900)
For the wages of sin is death;
And no matter how hard we try we can’t wipe away our own sins.
(dry to wipe the mirror with your hand or a dry wipe.)
Ephesians 2:8–9 KJV 1900
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
But God doesn’t want our lives to stay a mess. He wants to clean up our hearts and make us a new creation again.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV 1900
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
So, God sent His Son Jesus to help us be clean again. and by His death on the cross and by His blood He wipes us white as snow.
(Wipe the mirror and rewrite God on it.)
And to have your life clean and to be made a new creature just like 2 Corinthians says you only need to call on the name of the Lord and you can be saved from your sins and be made in the likeness of Christ.
Romans 10:13 KJV 1900
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Closing

I want everyone to stand with me now are the piano begins to play and your heads are bowed and eyes close and no one looking around. This is your time to respond to whatever it is that God is putting on your heart right now.
This is a time for every one to be respectful to those around you and let God work in your heart as well as in others.
With every day bowed and eyes still closed. If you want to come and pray about anything step out and head to the back of the room. Step out right now and go to the back.
For everyone else I just want you to remain quite and still for a few moments longer.
