2 Timothy 3:16–17 KJV 1900
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

A Scary Word...

Theology - the study of all things related to God

There are 10 Divisions of Theology:

Bibliology - the study of the Bible.
Theology (proper) - The study of God’s essence.
Angelology - the study of angels.
Anthropology - the study of man.
Harmartiology - the study of sin.
Soteriology - the study of salvation
Ecclesiology - the study of the church.
Christology - the study of Christ.
Pneumatology - the study of the Spirit.
Eschatology - the study of last things.
**For the sake of time, we will combine some of these together
Ex. When discussing man and salvation we will discuss sin and so on.

Why is it so important that we understand theology?

Becasue it is the basis of our doctrine.

Another scary word...

Doctrine = teaching.
** For the life of me I do not understand why so many pastors/churches/Christians shy away from clear doctrinal teaching!

Bibliology: The Study of the Bible

Why is the Bible and the study of the Bible so important?
Becasue it is the foundation upon which all other doctrines are built.

Point of Attack

The Bible is the prime target of Satan
Genesis 3:1 KJV 1900
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Look at Genesis 3 with me and you will see that Satan attacks the authority of Scripture today, just as he did in the Garden.
“Yea, hath God said…?” Attacks the inspiration and authority
“Ye shall not surely die...” Implies that God is a liar and untrustworthy
“Ye shalal be as gods...” Implies that God is withholding some pleasure from humanity.

Why would Satan Focus on Casting Doubt on the Bible?

If the authority of the Bible is destroyed, then there is no basis by which to support any doctrinal belief. Psalm 11:3
Psalm 11:3 KJV 1900
3 If the foundations be destroyed, What can the righteous do?

What does the Word Bible Mean?

Biblios - Greek word meaning “roll or book”
In ancient times there were two primary writing surfaces: Papyrus and parchment . 2 Timothy 4:13
2 Timothy 4:13 KJV 1900
13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
Typically the Scriptures were bound into rolls or scrolls, long before being bound as what recognize today as books.
