Paul closes chapter 4 by showing how Abraham's belief in God's promise through faith was the means through which he obtained righteousness. In the process of revealing the tie between these things, Paul provides certain truths related to faith itself including the fact that faith requires a context, requires an object, and is distinct from hope.
