Christian Standard Bible - Please stand to read God’s word
Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Some of these nuggets are from Jim Sheppard, The Most Neglected Area of Discipleship in the American Church, for The National Christian Foundation.
God knew money would have great power. The power to draw us completely away from him. That’s why Jesus taught in Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
He did not say, “You cannot serve God and Satan.” That’s too obvious. You already know that. He said God and Mammon.
Mammon is defined as materialism and worldly gain. It is material wealth regarded as having an evil influence. More importantly, the New Testament personifies it as a false god. It is a deistic term. The only thing Jesus ever gave a deistic term to other than Himself is God The Father, and the Holy Spirit.
Money has power. Great spiritual power. It has the power to draw you away from the altar of the One True God to another counterfeit altar.
Finances is “Journey” that you will start with your parents, continue on your own and improve with your spouse (If married) and pass on to your children - Financial Legacy
Discipleship: The act of making disciples; growing Christ followers through deep transformation.
You want to use God’s resources to build His kingdom. You want to become a discipline to build His Kingdom.
What you do with money is financial, but your relationship with it is spiritual. And if that is the case, then stewardship and giving is an encounter with God as it relates to your money and possessions. And that is a discipleship issue.
Though Tattoo - Once you are a Christ-follower, your relationship with money is spiritual.
As Martin Luther said, “There are three conversions necessary: the conversion of the heart, the conversion of the mind, and the conversion of the purse.”
Heart Issue
We are love stuff, experiences, and convenience.
To quote the 1980s hit by Madonna, “Cause we're living in a material world. And I am a material girl.” Americans love their stuff, experiences, and convenience. For many in the United States, their hope is place in material goods and experiences—their car, house, and vacations. They view these momentary things as items that will provide lasting satisfaction, contentment, purpose, and admiration. Of course, such promises are quickly revealed to be untrue. This love affair with worldly stuff and experiences corrodes financial health. More importantly, it reveals a heart that is not placing its full hope in Jesus.

Recap from June 4 - Pastor’s Sermon

Financial Quiz?
How many Scriptures in the bible deal with Money?
Is handling money part of our discipleship walk?
Legacy - LEGACY — an inheritance Webster dictionary :
1. a gift by will especially of money or other personal property.
2. something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past
How many people does it take to change a legacy?
How many generations does it take to change your legacy?
Economy of Money. There are two economies which Christian struggle to function in. Man’s Economy and God’s Economy. You need to understand man’s economy but you need to function is God’s economy
Man’s Economy
Rich - There is a lot of talk about being rich. Podcasts, articles, books, and courses promote the idea that having more money is the solution to problems and to a happy life, for both ourselves and others. It's a message that has existed throughout history.
2. We desire immediate gratification.
God’s Economy
Issue of the Heart - Let me be clear, this is an issue of the heart, for it's the desire to be rich that plunge people into ruin and destruction (1 Timothy 6:9). The world tells us to build bigger and bigger barns, but God says, “You fool!” (Luke 12:16-21).
First a little inspiration. Proverbs 18:15 reads, “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” So let’s seek some knowledge about IRAs.
Need to have a plan. This does not change on it’s own
Know where you are?
Proverbs 27:23 tells us, “Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.” Today we may interpret that to mean “Watch your investments closely.”

Pray - God offers His children the privilege of prayer as a substitute for worry. As Paul told the Philippians, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Phil. 4:6). But how should we pray about financial challenges, especially when we bring some of those challenges on ourselves? Here are three tips on praying through financial obstacles.
Read God’s word daily or Listen to it. Adopt God work into your heart
Acknowledge what you don’t understand
Surrender your need to control and power
Address the financial areas you need help - Provide 15:22 seek counsel. 25% of Americans don’t have anyone to whom they can go to for trusted financial guidance
Proverbs 15:22 states - "without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed." Don't forget to seek the Lord's wisdom too, in prayer and his Word.
We can’t have peace with divided hearts.
We can’t serve two masters
We may be unwilling or unprepared to pay the price that comes with riches
Money management reveals the priorities of our hearts and our spiritual maturity.
If we really want true spiritual riches, we must faithfully manage money first.
Our heart reveals our true treasures
God wants us to avoid being captivated or overwhelmed by money.
Matthew 3:10 CSB - Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Love of money results in being captivated.
Debt often results in being overwhelmed.
Deuteronomy 8
4 Your clothing did not wear out, and your feet did not swell these forty years. 5 Keep in mind that the LORD your God has been disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son. 6 So keep the commands of the LORD your God by walking in his ways and fearing him. 7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams, springs, and deep water sources, flowing in both valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat, barley, vines, figs, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey; 9 a land where you will eat food without shortage, where you will lack nothing; a land whose rocks are iron and from whose hills you will mine copper. 10 When you eat and are full, you will bless the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.
Ignorant of Your responsibilities of money.
3 Servants - Matthews 25 THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS
Summaries the three servants
Each received talents based on Master’s decision.
First servant doubles his talents went from 5 to 10 talents
Second Servant doubles his talents - 2 to 4 talents
Third - Hid his talents - 1 to zero
Wrapping up
Change what you have done - (Need to provide hope for people)
Question:
1. Do you believe that God parted the Red Sea?
2. Do you believe that Christ was raised on the third day?
3. ???
Why don’t we believe can help us with our financial!!
Matthew 12:33–37 CSB - “Either make the tree good and its fruit will be good, or make the tree bad and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. A good person produces good things from his storeroom of good, and an evil person produces evil things from his storeroom of evil. I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
