No Condemnation

Romans 8:1

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

* Your Heart Condition

we must be in Christ Jesus

no condemnation means great freedom

there are some important considerations for us to apply

Romans 8:5–8 NIV

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Mind Set

Romans 8:5 NIV

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

we all have a mindset

it is either positive or negative

it comes down to the very fundamental nature of a human being

there is the conflict between the flesh and the spiritual nature

chapter 7 talks about this conflict in great detail

the answer is the no condemnation in Christ Jesus

The Desires from Our Flesh

the flesh desires me, me, me

it is ultimately selfish

the mind works to satisfy those desires

to the godly person, it causes conflict

what you want to do divinely, you do not

The Desires of the Spirit

similarly living by the Spirit brings a you you you focus

it is based on love and mercy and grace

the outcomes of these two contrary desires are stark

Life and Peace

Romans 8:6 NIV

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

flesh only brings death

the Spirit brings life and peace

Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

there are two points in time which are crucial

first is the death and resurrection of Jesus

here is God allowing the restoration of mankind by the sacrifice of Christ

the second is when we make the commitment

Romans 10:9  If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

from a fleshly mindset, we know have a spiritual mindset

there is a new operating system - a reboot that actually works

Hostile to God

Romans 8:7 NIV

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

Paul expands on this state of the mind

submitting to the flesh did not work at any point

the flesh is a corruption of the divine nature we had in Adam

the flesh is a reflection of the nature of Satan

not surprising that it is hostile to God

Pleasing God

Romans 8:8 NIV

Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

there is no pleasing God when we are in the flesh

what does it take

you must declare Jesus is Lord = new spirit and a new heart

understand that we mus remove the ways of the old nature

develop a mindset govern by the Spirit

read the word, pray, listen to the Spirit, take the advice of mature Christians

be willing to change when convicted

be willing to forgive others

operate in grace
