Psalm 46

Psalm 46 “To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us…”
This Psalm brings reassurance to us that God is our fortress and our protection, he cares for us and has all power. In the end we see what our response to all of the goodness of God should be, we should be still and know that he is God.
In life it can be tough to ever slow down any at all. There is all of the hustle and bustle and it seems like it will never stop. As I am writing this episode now I am preparing to leave for a summer camp and it seems like I will not be back home for a month. In times like these we need to remember to be still and know that he is God.
Think what being still might look like in your life. Sitting and meditating on God and knowing who he is. This podcast was originally designed for the busy to listen to as they do other things but in the end we all need to eventually stop. We need to take some time of silence and solitude to contemplate the things of God and for our own personal devotion. I recommend doing some form of this daily but adding an occassional longer time is beneficial as well.
Take time to be still and know that he is God.
