(V1) Lead a life worthy of your calling
A) Sometimes people can be confused and think life is about them.
Strive to be poplar, good at sports, own luxury cars, have good paying job, etc
However, the Apostle Paul begs us to lead a life worthy of your calling
1 Thes 2:12 “We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory.”
Col 1:10 “Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.”
Your calling begins with how you treat others
1.1 (V2) Part of living a your life worthy of your calling is treating people according to the commandments of God
A) Always be humble, gentle, patient, making allowances for others faults
Why? Don’t you have faults?
We expect people to have mercy on us, yet we do not have acceptance for others
The Motivating factor is your love
B) Because of your love, which is the mark of every believer
2. (V3) Make every effort to keep yourself united in the Spirit
A) United in the Spirit means no separation
Two believers who are yielded to the Holy Spirit
The fruit of the Spirit:
Gal 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”
Works of the flesh:
Gal 5:19-21 “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
There are times when peace is not possible
For instance, if someone comes against the fundamentals of the teaching of the Bible
