The rainbow
The rainbow
There was a time in the ancient world that there was no rainbow in the sky.
The sun did not shine in the way that it does today. It’s harmful rays were not as destructive as they are in our day and age.
At this point in history rain had not descended from the skies.
Rather something else did descend. The sons of God.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
The Lord looked on man kind in complete and utter rebellion to what he had made them to be and regretted it. Why did he regret it? Because they were living opposite of how they were created. They were not living in the bounds that God had created them to live in.
So God decided to destroy the earth.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
What an amazing statement. How beautiful and wonderful grace is.
Lets continue reading
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Notice the attributes that are attached to this time frame.
corrupt
violent
If you take a look at how the news looks, or the twitter feed, or the posts. It is full of corruption and violence. Never before in my life have I heard of so much violence happening in America. From the shooting, stabbings, beatings.
Young crowds of people assaulting elderly people.
These are similar circumstances that Noah would have been building the ark during.
Because of this God destroyed the earth.
The people leave the ark and shortly after we find this account.
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
The flood is a picture of what we all deserve for completely disobeying God.
The rainbow is a picture of Gods grace.
Why did God choose a rainbow?
Was the rainbow created by God just for a promise?
Lets look at other instances in scripture of when the rain bow is mentioned.
1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
God took something from heaven. And not just a random thing,
a thing that He has in his throne room,
a thing that is portrayed on his strong angel,
something that gives the appearance of his glory.
The rainbow a picture of something that is in Heaven. A seemingly powerful symbol.
What is the rainbow now in 2023?
It is called the symbol of pride. LGBTQ+iA2 has adopted it as their symbol. And how appropriate a symbol to adopt.
Lets recall together why God destroyed the earth with the flood. What was an attribute of times.
They were corrupt. They were going directly against the plan God had for them.
So today just like 3,000 years ago. God looks down and sees a rainbow. Is he disgusted that some group has claimed to steal something that belonged to God?
No, He looks down at the rainbow on prominent display. And He is reminded of His promise of grace. You see the rainbow is not misused by the pride crowd. They may think they have stolen it. But they have simply put it at the forefront and they are reminding God of his promise.
Remember what is God’s is always God’s.
Vengeance is mine says the Lord.

Your life is his. Gal 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Your soul is his
Give your life to Christ today.
He is already Lord, acknowledge Him for His rightful position.
