Opening

Main point

We can’t forget that we are citizens of the Kingdom. God is bigger than our physical needs.

Why it Matters

If we know He holds us and we keep reminding ourselves of that We can trust Him more.

Scripture

Mark 8:14–21 NIV

The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.” They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.” Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they replied. “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” They answered, “Seven.” He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”

14 - Silly Disciples.

No wonder so many leaders think. “I will just do it myself. That way I know it will be done the way I want it to be done.”

15 - What is the Yeast of the Pharisees and Herod?

Yeast is often used in a negative way. Why?

a small amount permeates the whole loaf.

Once in it can’t be removed.

Don’t let the teachings of P and H into your hearts.

It is a warning that just because you look right you might be rotten on the inside.

16 - Great. He’s mad because we forgot the bread. Way to go guys.

17 - You still don’t get it do you? Maybe it is too late.

18 - You don’t see you don’t listen.

19 - It isn’t about the bread and you know that. I have fed 5000 people with a little more than this. What are you going on about? How many baskets were left over? Right.

20 - And what about the other time I did it? YOU SAW ME DO IT TWICE!!!!

21 - And you still don’t get it. I DON’T NEED YOU. You need ME! My teachings and my guidance and my ways. Stop thinking like the world!!!!
