A Father’s Legacy
A Father’s Legacy
• Many serving as fathers - when they aren’t
• Father is a father is a father - no matter the geneology
• In the Bible, the word “ab” = father - human or spiritual
• Many today are serving as fathers, when they did not pro-create
• I’m one - each is still my child, and each carries my legacy
• What legacy are you leaving today?
“Legacy” - What others portray that was modelled or taught by you
“Legacy” - What others portray that was modelled or taught by you
• What’s left behind
• What part of you people see in those you’ve interacted with
• What is YOUR legacy?
• What are your children - those you’re responsible for - portraying today?
• Must be intentional about leaving a legacy (have to be!)
• Some are intent on leaving property or money - that’s their legacy
• but God’s people are called to leave a different legacy:
• Are you spending as much time teaching them the ways of God as you are in teaching them the ways of man (sports, recreation, etc.)
• Why does it matter?
Your children are the hope of our world
Your children are the hope of our world
• Remember - children in this sense are not just your genetic children - its those you teach, those you influence, those who look to you for instruction and guidance
• those in whom you’ve intentionally placed a legacy -
• Why is the world going the way it is?
• Because parents are embracing the ways of the world - transgender, homosexuality,
• My child should be free to choose - but how can they choose if you haven’t given them Godly value to choose by?
• While House event - trangender “woman” baring her breasts on the lawn
• You can blame Biden for even having the event, but he didn’t raise that child -
• she was “living her truth”
• totally true - but its not the truth of God - it her truth - the devil’s truth
• So what is her family background? I guarantee “she” wasn’t raised in God’s truth
• and who has the primary responsibility before God for instilling that truth?
The primary responsibility for instilling God’ truths is on the father
The primary responsibility for instilling God’ truths is on the father
•
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
• That’s right - FATHERS!!
• “Father” - MASCULINE noun - man
• father, mentor, model, teacher
Esther and Mordecai
Esther and Mordecai
• Story - 10 chapter story of redemption and protection from the hands of a child that Mordecai raised
•
• Esther has gotten into the maiden’s quarters
11 And every day Mordecai paced in front of the court of the women’s quarters, to learn of Esther’s welfare and what was happening to her.
•
Stay vigilant for their welfare
Stay vigilant for their welfare
• never too old for a father’s watchful eye

13 And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
•
Teach them that God has a purpose for their lives
Teach them that God has a purpose for their lives
• He wants far more than for them to just be believers
• He wants to USE them
• Raise them up serving God and others
• Help them find their gifting
13 When Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him, his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him but will surely fall before him.”
•
Always remind them of their status as a child of God
Always remind them of their status as a child of God
• His faithfulness to the faithful
• His loyalty to the loyal
• His rewards to those who serve
20 And Mordecai wrote these things and sent letters to all the Jews, near and far, who were in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, 21 to establish among them that they should celebrate yearly the fourteenth and fifteenth days of the month of Adar, 22 as the days on which the Jews had rest from their enemies, as the month which was turned from sorrow to joy for them, and from mourning to a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and joy, of sending presents to one another and gifts to the poor. 23 So the Jews accepted the custom which they had begun, as Mordecai had written to them,
