1 Pedro y Juan subían juntos al templo a la hora novena, la de la oración. 2 Y era traído un hombre cojo de nacimiento, a quien ponían cada día a la puerta del templo que se llama la Hermosa, para que pidiese limosna de los que entraban en el templo. 3 Este, cuando vio a Pedro y a Juan que iban a entrar en el templo, les rogaba que le diesen limosna. 4 Pedro, con Juan, fijando en él los ojos, le dijo: Míranos. 5 Entonces él les estuvo atento, esperando recibir de ellos algo. 6 Mas Pedro dijo: No tengo plata ni oro, pero lo que tengo te doy; en el nombre de Jesucristo de Nazaret, levántate y anda. 7 Y tomándole por la mano derecha le levantó; y al momento se le afirmaron los pies y tobillos; 8 y saltando, se puso en pie y anduvo; y entró con ellos en el templo, andando, y saltando, y alabando a Dios. 9 Y todo el pueblo le vio andar y alabar a Dios. 10 Y le reconocían que era el que se sentaba a pedir limosna a la puerta del templo, la Hermosa; y se llenaron de asombro y espanto por lo que le había sucedido. 11 Y teniendo asidos a Pedro y a Juan el cojo que había sido sanado, todo el pueblo, atónito, concurrió a ellos al pórtico que se llama de Salomón.

1 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. 11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed.

Cuando vino el Espíritu Santo sobre la primera iglesia, la comunidad se asombró de lo que sucedía por la influencia de los creyentes.

When the Holy Spirit came upon the first church, the community was amazed at what was happening due to the influence of the believers.

-De la misma manera, el mundo no solo debe sorprenderse de lo que sucede en nuestras reuniones, sino de lo que sucede en nuestro ser, en nuestro carácter, en toda nuestra vida. Deben aprender a glorificar a Dios por lo que hace a través de nosotros.

-In the same way, the world should not only be surprised by what happens in our meetings, but by what happens in our being, in our character, in our whole life. They must learn to glorify God by what he does through us.

En qué consiste ser bautizados con el poder del Espíritu Santo

What does it mean to be baptized with the power of the Holy Spirit

-El Espíritu Santo es una promesa de Dios para sus hijos. Jesús “mandó a sus discípulos que no se fueran de Jerusalén , sino que esperaran la promesa del Padre” (Hch. 1.4).

-The Holy Spirit is a promise from God to his children. Jesus “commanded his disciples not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father” (Acts 1.4).

-Se trataba del poder que recibirían, el cual los capacitaría para dar testimonio de Cristo, de su muerte y resurrección.

-It was about the power they would receive, which would enable them to bear witness to the death and resurrection of Christ.

33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

-Al decir poder, Jesús se refería a la capacidad que El obra para poder llevar con éxito la vida cristiana.

-By saying power, Jesus was referring to the capacity that He works in order to successfully lead the Christian life.

Poder: Gr. “dynamis”, que significa “poder, fuerza, capacidad, habilidad. Capacidad de llevar cualquier cosa acabo.

Power: Gr. “dynamis”, which means “power, strength, capacity, ability. Ability to carry out anything.

-Se trata de una posesión de influencia controladora.

Capacidad humana | Human capacity

-A este poder o capacidad de hacer algo es que se refiere la parábola de los talentos:

Capacidad divina | Divine ability

-Lo que Dios ha encomendado a la iglesia no solo se logra con la capacidad humana. Se necesita el “poder o capacidad” que Dios da, por lo que implica la Comisión: Predicar el evangelio para que la gente sea salva de sus pecados y de la condenación eterna, (Mr. 16.15-18).

-What God has entrusted to the church is not only achieved with human ability. The "power or capacity" that God gives is needed, which is why the Commission implies: Preach the gospel so that people are saved from their sins and eternal damnation, (Mr. 16.15-18).

Cómo se recibe el poder del Espíritu Santo

How do you receive the power of the Holy Spirit

-Surge la pregunta: ¿Qué debo hacer para recibir el poder del Espíritu Santo?

-The question arises: What should I do to receive the power of the Holy Spirit?

-Este poder no viene por las señales; por el contrario, las señales vienen como manifestación de ese poder. (“Jesús dijo: “En mi nombre...”, “en mi poder...”, Mr.16.17-18).

-This power does not come by signs; on the contrary, the signs come as a manifestation of that power. (“Jesus said: “In my name…”, “in my power…”, Mr.16.17-18).

-Eso fue lo que sucedió en el milagro relatado en l capítulo 3.

Se necesita fe | Faith is needed

-Lo que debe hacer una persona para recibir el poder del Espíritu Santo es creer en la promesa de Jesús.

-What a person must do to receive the power of the Holy Spirit is to believe in the promise of Jesus.

Necesitamos el poder de Dios | We need the power of God

-Debemos ser conscientes de la necesidad que tenemos de ser llenos del poder del Espíritu de Dios.

-We must be aware of the need we have to be filled with the power of the Spirit of God.

Creamos que Dios nos ha dado Su poder para que tengamos la capacidad de vencer el pecado y dar testimonio de Jesucristo.

We believe that God has given us His power so that we have the ability to overcome sin and bear witness to Jesus Christ.
