Jairus was a ruler of the synagogue which means he was the primary official who oversaw the business of the synagogue.
He would have also had a major role the every service at the synagogue.
The best way to describe him and his role is to say that he was the pastor of this synagogue.
He had great standing in the community and when he talked people listened.
But here we see a very different side of him we see a father who has done everything he knows to do and it is still not enough to make his daughter well.

How He Approached Jesus (v 22)

This was a man that could have been prideful.
He had power, primeness, pose, but none of that mattered when it can to his child she needed help and he would do what ever it took.
Jairus humbled himself before Christ.
Our children no matter how old they are need to see us as men and as fathers humble ourselves before Christ.
They need to see that we don’t have all the answers.
They need to see that we can say sorry and admit when we are wrong.
It says here in verse 22 that Jairus fell at the feet of Jesus.
This means that he laid out flat on the ground face in the dirt and begged Jesus to help his child.
If we cant humble ourselves at the feet of the master we wont humble ourselves to no one else.

How He Appealed to Jesus (v 23a)

Jairus was a well connected man he had access to every social circle in the city, no one could help.
He was out of options he had no choice but to put the life of his only daughter in the hands of a man who most thought was a fake and a fraud.
He came to Jesus broken and with nothing else to give.
How much better could our relationships be with our children if we did not wait until we are at that point and if we came to Jesus when we have more than what we need and just think what He can do with all that we have.
Our children need to see us appeal to Christ not just when we are empty and have no where else to turn but when we are full and ready to bless others.
the more we look to Him for guidance the more they will look to us and to Him.

How He Associated with Jesus ( v 38)

When Jairus brought Jesus home with Him it changed everything.
He knew who this man was this man was there to change up the very profession that Jairus worked in.
After the death of Christ Jairus would no longer have a job because his role would no longer be needed.
He did not care what other thought of him or the people in His house all he knew is that Jesus could heal his daughter and he was going to do everything in his power to bring Jesus to her.
