Building God's Way | Psalm 127 | Pastor Jose Brevil

The title bar message this morning is building God's way, building God's way. Before we read our texts this morning and I want to read the lyrics of a song to you, that is called Cat's in the Cradle title. Simply means that's when somebody's just not investing. Like in the relationship, you know, as they shoot or not spending enough time with the other and typically that is, that's what actually happens. So it the lyrics goes like this. It says my child arrived the other day. He came to the world in the usual way, but there were planes to catch and bills to pay. He learned to walk while I was away and he was talking before I knew it and I as he grew He'd say, I'm going to be just like you. Dad, you know, I'm going to be dressed like you. And the Cat's in the Cradle and the silver spoon, little boy blue and the man and the moon. When you coming home, Dad, I don't know when, but we'll get together then, you know, we'll have a good time. Then. My son turned ten just the other day. He said, thanks for the ball, dad. Come on, let's play. Can you teach me to throw? I said not today. I got a lot to do. He said that's okay. And he walked away but he smile never dim it said, I'm going to be like him. Yes, you know, I'm going to be like him and the Cat's in the Cradle and the silver spoon, little boy, blue. And the Man in the Moon. When you coming home, Dad, I don't know when, but we'll get together then you know, we'll have a good time then. Well, he came from college. Just the other day so much like a man. I just had to say son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while he shook his head and they said with a smile, What are the really like Dad is to borrow the keys. See you later. Can I have them please and a Cat's in the Cradle and the silver spoon? Little boy blue. And the Man in the Moon, when you're coming home, son, I don't know when but we'll get together then Dad you know we'll have a good time then. I've long since retired. My son's moved away. I called him up or just the other day. I said, I'd like to see you. If you don't mind, he said I'd love to Dad if I can find a time. You see my new jobs, a hassle, and the kids have the flu but it's sure. Nice talking to, you Dad, it's been shoe. Nice talking to you. And as I hung up the phone, it awkward to me. He's grown up just like me. My boy was just like me. And the Cat's in the Cradle and the silver spoon, little boy, blue. And the Man in the Moon. When you coming home, son, I don't know when But we'll get together, then Dad. We're going to have a good time then see time flies and as we know more is cut than actually he is. And this one was a very popular song in the seventies and eighties and it was the Harry Chapman's wife wrote. This is a poem and he put it to song and it was just kind of like a she was trying to nudge him. You know, he had a very bad relationship with his dad and and he had a son and she was trying to kind of tell him hey you need to spend more time with your son. But he always had the next plane to catch and never really had the time for his son and he died very early. Where's your 38 to a car accident? You think a little time which one we always think that we have more time but we don't always know how much time that we really have and we need to be careful with what we try to teach. You know with words when they say that someone is important to me and I want to spend time with you. But if we don't do it, then more is cut cut, then is start as we saw in the song, the son, grew up to be just like him. He was focusing on the things of this world, what it takes like an hour to pay bills and to build a career but failed Focus on what was most important 127 perfectly as Google. See, a two things in this Psalm, we talking here this morning about building God's way first, let's go ahead and just read the song. It says, a song of a sense of Solomon. So a song the Psalms was just like a song. Did they do a sing especially when they had like some festivals that they would go up to the mountain when they say sons of a sanded, literally means like going up your the temple was up in the mountain. And it says, unless the Lord builds, the house goes with build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the Watchman stays awake in vain,

It is in vain that you rise up early and go to go late to rest. Eating the bread of extra spoils for, he gives to his beloved sleep. Behold, children are a Heritage from the Lord. The fruit of the womb, a reward like arrows in the hand of the warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them. He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gates. Father may, you teacher says, we study your word now, in Jesus name. Amen. Here's the message in a nutshell. Your life should not be about building vain things, but rather focus on building what valuable your life should not be about building vain things, but rather your life should be focused about building. What's valuable To contrast we see in the text. So it will use the first part is invoice one and forced to. It says, the first part of our students is pretty much a house built on vanity. The first part is a house build on vanity. If you look at the first one, it says, unless the Lord builds the house. Those would build it labor in vain off, and we think that we can do things without God, but hear this song, hear Stella 8. We need God in everything that we do because if we build without God, whatever rebuild we build it in vain because God is not part of it. It's kind of like when you look at a house it doesn't matter how pretty the house look or or like the paint all the Decorations, you put in the house, all those things. Another what's important? In the house says we all know what's important in the house. Foundation it doesn't matter how pretty the house looks, but if it doesn't have the right foundation is going to crumble. And here, this is not just about raising children, but it's about like building your career. It's about everything that you want to do in life, you cannot do it on your own. Because it says, unless the Lord builds the house, unless the Lord builds the career, unless the Lord builds the business, unless the Lord builds, whatever you want to build in your life, unless the Lord builds, the relationship goes with build it labor in vain. And it says, unless the Lord watches over the city, the Watchman stays awake in vain, See what a friend. We like to build things and then protect what we have Bill, right? You always hear that. They like, you need to protect your Investments right here in the Bible is telling us. Yeah, it is great. You need to protect what you have, but know that in the end without God, you might still lose what you have. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the Watchman stays awake in vain, the message. A paraphrase translation says the Watchmen, might as well take a nap, but it says everything that you have to do. You need to do it with God, do it with God because no amount of human sacrifice for toriel. Can I come please much? Unless God blessing is upon us. No amount of human sacrifice or Tooele can accomplish much unless God is with us. Love, is all about God. Love the Denny's proverb that says, what you are is God's gift to you. But what you do with yourself is your gift to God. Look at Colossians 1:16 17, says for him. All things were created in heaven and on Earth, visible and invisible, where the Thrones? Or the minions or rules or Torrid. He's all things were created, flew him and Say it with me for him and he is before all things. And in him all things, hold together. You say you can't build without God. You cannot build anything without God, you might, but it may not have lasting value. You say, I love 2nd Corinthians, the first party in the verse 2nd Corinthians 6 verse 1, it says working together with him. So life is a partnership with God. Everything that you do and you want to do it together with God, it's like a marriage. Okay. You want to do together with your partner? Same thing. Here, you are. Married to God. And God is saying a work thing together with him. I love the way that a pastor out in New Mexico, put said his name is Skip Isaac, he says, little is much when God is in it and much is little. If God is not in it little is much of God is in it and much is little, if God is not in it, we can count on God, we can count on God to build with us and we can count on God to protect what we have. Bill. Look at Psalm 121 verses forces behold, he will keep Israel will know. Neither Slumbers nor sleeps. See God is always awake. So pretty much God. Got our back. What you like looking for stew. It says it is in vain that you rise up early and go lay to rest eating the bread of what anxious toriel's. A lot of our work, really just an excuse to cause a lot of time has come to let you know. We most of us live paycheck-to-paycheck, 50% to 51% of Americans live, paycheck to paycheck and that includes people making six figure income. See if you can work. I cannot really enjoy what I have because I'm thinking about the next bill because I'm thinking about the next thing that I have to do some thinking about where I can like work is constantly on your mind it says it is in vain that you rise up early and go late to work at 10. Like we always like extending the work hours and then just like over working says it's in vain that you're doing that. If you rising up early shouldn't you go late to rats? Should you to go early to rest at night? And saying, if you wake up late, you go to bed late but here things it is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest p.m. and the way that our jobs are structured. Now it's Friday, they want you on the clock all the time.

Remember I used to work at a place, my wife just hated this place because he's like, I was always working. But they cannot make you feel that, don't they? Like, if you're not doing way more than your shoes and then somehow, you feel like, oh man, I'm going to be the next one. Going to be fired now because everybody's doing something and I remember one place I used to work, it's like everybody's waiting to see was going to leave first. So they can leave the word beneficiary, buddy, starting to leave your just didn't want to be the first But work out. But everybody.

I know, we just waiting, like to see was going to leave first, and wherever leaves, okay, now it's okay to leave their workplace bullying. You in just like, you got to be at work. You got to do this, you got to do with it. It's like you have to pack everything in one day. The Bible says, it is in vain that you rise up early and go lay to rest. Cuz it what's the point if you just working all days, what is there to enjoy life eating the bread of anxious tour of? You can't even make ends meet. If you lose that job, you were in trouble. It's just like paycheck-to-paycheck. Bible says, he gives his beloved sleep. If he's 70, millions of Americans have trouble sleeping at night,

And hear the the texture started telling us, this is kind of like related. The mountain, that everybody knows having sleeping problems. That necessarily because of the work, you know, if you have a sleeping problem you do need to check with your doctor and see when some tests and see if there is anything that needs to be done. But a lot of times what keeps us awake at night is anxiousness? We are anxious about things in here that says God gives his beloved sleep. You see it's been said that the people we can afford a second home how the one who can least enjoy it. The people get on 42nd and 1/2 hour window at least you enjoy it because all that they know to do is work. And when they get to the second home, this supposed to enjoy their, pull your laptop and then let's start to work. The Bible is not against working hard, there are some bigger than your life, you're going to have to rise early and work hard and go lay to bed at night. If you building a business, if you are at a crucial time in your life, the Bible is not against. This ain't like that should not be your mother's helper and I should not be the way that your life is always good. Look at 2nd Thessalonians chapter 3, it says it, now recommend your brothers in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that you keep away from brother who is working in idleness. That means people who don't want to work and not in accord with the Tradition that you receive from us for you yourselves, know how you are to imitate us because we were not idle. When we were with you nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor will work night and day that we might not be burden to any of you. It is not because we do not have that, right? But to give you in our cells, an example to imitate for even when we were with you, we would give you this command. If anyone is not reeling to work, let him know that eat to the Bible is not against working hard. Okay, you have to work for. We hear that some among you walk in idleness, they don't want to work, not busy at work, but busy bodies. Now search for sins. We commit and encouraged in the Lord Jesus Christ to do, there were quietly and to earn their own living. As for you Brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed. Do not regard him as an enemy Bill to warn him as a brother. See, the Bible is clear, he agreed, we need to work but it's saying that there is also a limit where we can take it further. And God wants us when we go to bed at night that we can sleep, in Psalm 4 verse 8, it says in peace out, both lie down and sleep for you. Oh Lord Make Me dwell in safety. When we go to bed at night, we need to enjoy our sleep. What's the point of buying that comfortable bed? That you work so hard for if you can

Jesus says, we are carrying too much of ourselves. Matthew 11:28 to 36, come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, unless the Lord builds, the house, those with build it labor in vain. Again, you do everything we've tried to say is take my yoke upon you and learn from me for. I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find what rest for your soul. Soul of us, if we're struggling with sleeping at night and feeling anxious all the time, maybe we carrying too much ourselves. And God is saying a, we need to lay all those burdens that we have to him. He says, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. The bottom line is, is that we need to build and protect what we have, but we need to do it with who with God, all to mately. If God is not in it, whatever we do is useless when it says or who must be built on volume. Okay, we should not build a house on vanity but we need to build a home, a career or relationship. We need to build it on value, not on vanities knot, on vein things, things that will pass away. Look at verse 3, it says behold children are are Heritage from the Lord. The fruit of the womb. Reward relationship not home. You have children. They are a Heritage. The children are not a problem. The children are not inconvenience a little something. When I feel that way, I feel so I can go to work, I can do chickens or here. Royal replacement. His children are a heritage. That means you inherit from God and they're going to replace you, that means you need to train them. You need to spend time with them and you need to cherish and nourish them and help them grow in the help. Find the purpose in life because children are a Heritage. Not on inconvenience. They are a Heritage from the Lord. The Fruit of the Loom room Award of the room. So here is talking about women CC winning much saying that you can get, but focus on the people in your life. Your children as a man, your wife cuz she say the fruit of the womb, they're referring to a woman. You saying a full cast on relationships focus on relationship. Dues are the things that last forever you should have the juice Proverb that says each child. Brings a blessing, all his own each child. Bring a blessing or his seed. Doesn't matter how many kids that you have, they are all different, they are all different. If you ask a parent with many kids and you asked him

and tell me which one should I not have hair?

Is he every child is a blessing, no matter what state they might be in right now. Okay. No matter what state they might be. Keep working on them. Trim them up as the Bible says. Train them up, Psalm 127 verse 4. Says like arrows in the hand of a warrior, are the children of ones, you see your kids are your protection.

Your kids are your security. Seeing he's in parents of the way of saying that you do. Your kids, are your Social Security. To take care of you. Now, when they get old, you take care of them. Okay, then that's kind of like the way that we were old and it's like in Haiti there's no social security. See you depend on your children to take care of you in your old age. Not that much retirement as we have, okay? But we need to do those things, you know, as parents, we need to get the retirement plans, but as children, the children needs to be there for you. It might look different. Might be like your sake, that your kids fly over to come and spend time with you and and all of us as our parents, get older, we need to care for them as they age Sierra's here before things first error is have to be shaped Hello certain way. What you cannot throw anything. Okay. It has to have a specific shaped arrows. Have to be sharpened if you're going to hit your target Mister be Sharp. Same thing here, Rose needs to be directed. They need to be guided by a skillful Warrior. So if your parent you want to sharpen your parenting skills as much as you can, and then the air was only lunch one.

If he here, we need to apply the same things like to raising children. See, we need to shape children with certain way, raise them up, bring them up in the Lord. We need to sharpen them sharpen their skills. Help them to grow in every aspect of life especially on what matters, most finding their purpose, how they can make a difference for God, we need to direct them. We need to guide them like, in the way of the Lord and help them like to grow. And they're only lunch. Once once they get out of your house, they gone, you don't want them back. If they come back, that means like something went wrong.

We want them to be lunch. Now, not worth that. Have mine said that or I'm just waiting for her to be 18 to get out of the house. Children are a Heritage children are award from the Lord. That should not be that mine said but we want to prepare them. So when that time comes in so we lunch them and for them to go further than we have ever gone because when you lunch on our row, it goes far. And that's what we want for our children. We want our children to go way further than we have ever made it and that's why we need to shape them right? When it sharpen them, we need to guide them. We need to direct them and get them ready to be lunch. Proverbs 22 verse 6. Says Tran a little bit like the lowest like to trim down a child breaking them down, but we need to train them up in the way of the Lord the way that they should go even when He is old, he will not depart from it. Remember Deuteronomy 6 reread earlier as a restrictor reading. What does it say? You put it on their forehead and the doorpost you teach it to them. While you driving them to school. You teach it to them while they are going to bed, you, teach it to them. When they in the playground, wherever they are. When you're sitting at the table eating, you share the word with them and this is not just for parents, is that for you would become parents later to. Remember, these are the things that we do, that's the priority. God's word is the priority and then in verse five, it says blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them. No, it's look down upon when you have multiple kids, right? you only need to,

Remember that perfect family in America, okay? You got your spouse and then you have two kids, okay?

Seven more kids, more security. Look at what it says there. He shall be not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate fit in the gays in Jerusalem. That's what business was conducted. That's for the people will get together and ended discuss the Affairs of the community. That's kind of like your courtroom. Also when people will come in and accuse you, then you have people come and speak on your behalf. But what do you say if you raise your kids, right? They going to stand up for you. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them, that means you're going to have more people to stand up for you and stand up with you. Think we should not look down, just like the society, look at kids as like inconvenience, but instead kids are blessing. See, your children will be a good testimony for you. When you raise them in the fear of the Lord, the children of The Godly can be a blessing to their Community when you sharpen, then when you shave them. When your guy, then when you leave them in the right way, your children will be a blessing to the community. That's why that's why Christians, you know, me not to fear that the world is so bad. I don't want to have bring any kids here. Now you cannot shake them with the world. They are going to be the one that's keeping the world going there. Going to be the salt in the world are going to be the light in the world is in what our mission is. See, the more, the merrier, see the children from your home will make an impact in society and will be good neighbors, when we partner with God, unless the Lord builds the house, raise our children, the labor in vain, those were built it to hear the bottom line. The home is foundational to society, when family breaks down, guess what Society breaks down, it is foolish to try to raise children without God. See when we see problem is society's because they're coming from its broken homes. When you see a school, there's a lot of issues, Luke at the home. That's where the problem comes in. When I used to work in school, at the end of the day, all the research rolls down to parenteral involvement. Is what needs to be done? Being done at home, then it depends on what kind of school that you are going to have some life lessons to take away from this morning. First, you can build effectively without God, you can't build effectively without God. John 15 verse 5 says without me you can do nothing. Without me, you can do nothing. The second life is live at is bad, it's best when you build alongside the Lord, life is live at its best when you build alongside with God.

Our work must be a blessing, we enjoy. Not a burden. We endure our work must be a blessing. We enjoy. Not a burden. We endure the most often you'll find people constantly complaining about their work. But God is saying no, your work should be a blessing you and remember God wants us to work. But it should not be a burden that when doing I can wait till Friday to get to you. I'll be good. Just two more hours.

Your work must be a blessing to be enjoyed God created, man and woman, Adam and Eve, I told him to work the soiled. We got to work. We need to enjoy our work, work. Must the blessing to be enjoying that burden. Look at Jeremiah 31 verse 25 36 is for I will satisfy the weary soul and every language in Soul. I will replenish and this I work and look at my sleep, was what? Pleasant to me all the days are coming, declares the Lord. When I will sow the house of Israel and I put waiver, maybe too many verses that I needed. I just needed verse 25:26. See our sleep needs to be sweet nuts. A burdensome, Ni hao.

And then I love this proverb. Proverbs 10:22 says, the blessing of the Lord makes rich and he adds what sorrow to it. The blessing of the Lord makes rich and he adds no sorrow to it. So if you have some blessing in your life there are not enjoyable. They are not from God.

Write this one down on the line at memorize at the blessing of the Lord makes rich. And he adds no sorrow to a relationship matters. Full cast on the people in your life. Not the things that you can accumulate, you see, verse 3 behold, children are a Heritage from the Lord, the frame of the room. The mother is a reward in verse five. It says blessed is the man you see the ideal family? There's ever a father, you have a mother and you had children and it's saying, hey, focus on your family. This thing's that's what will last. Not the things that you accumulate here on Earth children are a blessing, they are not a burden, children are a blessing, not a burden of us. Treat our kids like project. Who sings don't treat your children as projects treat them as people. Oh my God. Them till they get 18. I can't wait for him to get out. That's a project. God didn't give us kids to treat those projects. We need to treat them as people reward from God. You think he'd the thing is that he is really like the most important thing we need to remember. Today you can only take people with you in heaven, including your children. Can you take any stuff to heaven?

You can only take people including your children into heaven with you, not stuff, still value, your family and other relationship in your life, more than stuff. All those stuff are going to be burned. Away K. We not going to have them valued the relationship. That's why we need to share the gospel with people everywhere because that's why we can actually take to heaven with us. So when we get to heaven, I know I share the gospel with you, you made it. Now we can talk. Bet you cannot pick your Lamborghini to heaven. Let me go for a ride. There will be other things way better than Lamborghini or how about you. Just let me just go there, you know, just like Angels. Okay. People are the ones that you can say to heaven with you, is the bottom-line, not. All of us, will get married at all of us. Did not all people were married will have children, but all of us can value the children in our lives. We can pray for them. We can be good examples to them and see that they are protected and cared for and encouraged in their spiritual of bringing. All of us, can play a part in raising children, especially in a church family setting where we need to watch out for one another. And look at the blessing that he says, in Matthew 18 prices Weber received, one such child in my name, receives who Jesus says 8, whenever we care for child, we helped to raise them up in the Lord. Hey, we are doing it for Jesus but there's also a warning It says, whoever causes one of these little ones would believe in me to send. it would be better for him to have a great Millstone fasting around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea, The guy saying, children are precious. People are precious. Treat them as such. Don't treat them like projects. In a nutshell, don't build your home. With vanities, but build your home. With all these amen. Father, thank you for your grace, thank you for your love. Thank you for your mercy, may you help each one of us whatever that we build. Whether it's a family, it's a career as a business. Whatever that we're building. Love God. May we build with you. for you say, unless The Lord builds the house. They labor in vain those Will be out. Unless the Lord watch over the house, the city. The labor is in those who watch the city. Father, may you help each one of us to enjoy our work.

And help us look guide when we go to bed at night.

We actually get to rest. Not thinking about tomorrow, but let tomorrow worry about itself. We stay sufficient for each day its own trouble. I pray. Father for All fathers here and those to be Father's. I pray, father, that you be with them that you helped them load guy to prioritize their family, prioritize relationship in real life. album Lord God to not be so busy with making a living And forget Lord guy to build a life. So, father, may you strengthen every men that are here today, may you help us Lord. God to be more like you may you help us Lord God to be a lighthouse. May you help every man here, Lord God to be a role model for younger kids that you would help them Lord God to to see a good example. And for all of us help each one of us for God to be good Role Models, good examples for others to follow and help each one of God. Look at one of us look. Focus on you. Knowing that you are everything that we need, but you be magnified, may you be glorified and help us Lord God to honor you in everything that we do. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen.
