We are not a club. We are a growing force to bring the Gospel of Jesus to those around us.
We don’t live to ourselves. We live to give glory to God by loving him and loving others and we do that by serving others.
New series coming July, “Unplug: More Than a Song”. So, come and learn to “Unplug”.
GENEROSITY
Leviticus 27:30 NLT
30 “One tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain from the fields or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord and must be set apart to him as holy.
Luke 11:42 NLT
42 “What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.
SONG SET
Jesus called his disciples

MY STORY: THE RED CAR DILEMMA
The Recall
The Repair with New Problem
The shudder and shake
Two dealer garages
Coping Skills: Trying to deal with the problem
no cruise
no quick acceleration
expect shuddering climbing hills and at stop signs
restricted traveling/worrying if we should or shouldn’t make the trip
Long trip: Spend $1000 on rental car or $1000 on repair… if they could fix it.
TAKING THE LONG SHOT — trusting local repair shop.
Three hours later and $138— the phone call came to pick it up. “its ready”
Overdue joy flowed over me.
Expectations of Failure.
Audrey said “leave it running so I can listen for the shudder”
It wasn’t just the drivers: Marcie and I...
these feeling became generational: it effected the way my daughter felt too.
Going to Morris with Marcio Andrette:-)
Signs of Success
No shuddering going up hills
No shuddering at stop signs
gas mileage went from 19-22mpg to 23-25mpg
LESS stress / LESS worry
Life and it’s Shudders and Shakes
Growing up in small town USA
broken dreams
limited options
relationships messy
betrayal from best friend
Coping Skills:
dummy down
change your dreams to accept whats comfortable
guard our heart and don’t let people really know your issues
don’t express our true feelings
refuse to explore new options
settle for less
Then There is Jesus
New idea of acceptance
New Life in Jesus
Hope for change
I feel different, but Life is the same
Oops! What now?
Following Jesus:
Following Jesus is more than checking a box or saying a prayer.
Following Jesus brings us to a new beginning with undefined expectation.
Following Jesus is now a Lifestyle
CHANGED EXPECTATIONS FOR DAILY LIVING
Now I Have Jesus— changing our expectation with God’s View
Now I Have God’s Word— memorization works, but it’s not the end game
Now I Have Brothers and Sisters— Love God and love others.
DAILY LIVING CHANGES EVERYTHING
Now I Have Jesus— changing our expectation with God’s View
My-view is focused on me, selfish, limited, and satisfaction is never met.
God-view is focused on God, puts God in the drivers seat, it’s eternal, and brings a satisfaction that goes beyond this world.
Thus when we allow society to form our view of the world instead of seeing things as God sees them we leave faith and enter into works… Works never please God.
Acts 17:22–33 NLT
22 So Paul, standing before the council, addressed them as follows: “Men of Athens, I notice that you are very religious in every way, 23 for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about. 24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. 26 From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. 27 “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ 29 And since this is true, we shouldn’t think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone. 30 “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. 31 For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” 32 When they heard Paul speak about the resurrection of the dead, some laughed in contempt, but others said, “We want to hear more about this later.” 33 That ended Paul’s discussion with them,
We MUST Believe in God…JESUS!
Now I Have God’s Word— memorization works, but it’s not the end game
Rote memorization helps implant God’s Word on our thoughts, but it is more than knowing.
Romans 12:2 NLT
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Let’s Go back to the OT to hear this fresh and new.
Deuteronomy 6:1–2 NLT
1 “These are the commands, decrees, and regulations that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you. You must obey them in the land you are about to enter and occupy, 2 and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the Lord your God as long as you live. If you obey all his decrees and commands, you will enjoy a long life.
Deuteronomy 6:3 NLT
3 Listen closely, Israel, and be careful to obey. Then all will go well with you, and you will have many children in the land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you.
Deuteronomy 6:4–9 NLT
4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Amen.
Deuteronomy 6:24–25 NLT
24 And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. 25 For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.’
This is a Lifestyle, everyday, all the time
Now I Have Brothers and Sisters— Love God and love others.
It all starts here...
John 13:34–35 NLT
34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
“We” are more than just people, “We are the Body of Christ”
1 Corinthians 12:27 (NLT)
27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
Romans 12:4–5 NLT
4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
John Piper tries to describe this Body of Christ is like an interwoven unity of all the believers in Christ... you and me, together in Christ.
If I am Christ’s brother, and you are Christ’s sister, then you are my sister and I am your brother. By creating relationships with himself, Christ creates the relationships in t
In weeks to come we are going to UNPLUG from our usual focus and ask God to knit us together by His Word.
To Knit, weave, and connect us to His heart tighter and more intricate than any quilt
To bring to us His Word not just to memorize, but to understand and put into practice in everyday life.
To remove our lame expectations of past blunders and lean into hearing His voice for Today.
To DISCOVER Jesus!
1 Timothy 2:3–4 NLT
3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
SO WE ASK...
Do We truly desire to allow Father to work His Transforming Grace in your Life?
I BELIEVE HE DOES BECAUSE: Jesus genuinely loves you and me.
He genuinely Loves YOU!
He wants to
redeem you
restore you
heal you
provide for you
care for you through every situation!
YOU ARE LOVED!!
