“Touble the Master”
“Touble the Master”
It is crucial that we understand who we are in Christ and what we have in Christ.
To be a christian, is not simply about who I am on Sunday but all through the week
Unfortuantely sometimes we limit our walk with Christ to a shout, a song, and service on Sunday
When I do this I find myself struggling, because I only sought a connection on the weekend.
I find myself struggling with Monday’s Madness, Tuesday’s Torments, Wednesday’s Worries, Thursday’s Trials, Friday’s Fire and Saturday’s Storms - Because all I sought was a Sunday’s Service
We have too much in Christ to be clinging on ALL THE TIME, when we know what we have in Christ…we will. . .
Trouble the Master
Trouble the Master
Mk 5:21-24.
#1 - I CAN’T BUT JESUS CAN
#1 - I CAN’T BUT JESUS CAN
Jairus comes to Jesus and pleads on His daughter’s behalf for a healing
He was a synagogue official.
He had, signifance, connection, authority, responsibility.
When there were things to be done, or set right in the place of worship, people would go to him.
But now, he as an issue that even he can’t fix, he needs to Go to someone.
Mk 5:23 “and implored Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and lay Your hands on her, so that she will get well and live.””
YOU CAN’T BUT JESUS CAN!!!
# MISCELLANEOUS - Has Your faith touched Jesus
# MISCELLANEOUS - Has Your faith touched Jesus
It’s time for a bonus point. All the Synoptics give this account within an account. Mk 5:25-34.
Something about this woman’s faith, touched Jesus.
What kinda faith do I have? (social barriers, gender barriers, physical barriers. . .she lit. took a chance getting to Jesus) - and it touched Him
#2 - JESUS MIGHT BE LATE, BUT HE’S STILL COMING
#2 - JESUS MIGHT BE LATE, BUT HE’S STILL COMING
Mk 5:35—36 “While He was still speaking, they came from the house of the synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?” But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.””
They made the mistake of judging Jesus’s ability by human metrics
They made the mistake of judging Jesus’s ability by human metrics
The men asked “why trouble the Master anymore” - this kinda imply that he still was.
The situation got worse but he still Troubled the Master. Some of us give up to soon
Some us give up when the problem shifts gear or it moves up a few levels
LEARN HOW TO TROUBLE THE MASTER
The word skyllo means: to bother, harass, annoy -
Here’s the tragedy: We have a God we can bother, but some of us don’t seem to bothered by God
Here’s the tragedy: We have a God we can bother, but some of us don’t seem to bothered by God
Learn how to trouble the Master
Trouble in the morning, at noon time, and when the sun goes down
Trouble Him when the obstacle is impassible
Trouble Him when the problem is unsolvable
This destroys the notion of praying too much,
This destroys the notion of being too much for Jesus
Mk 5:36 “But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.””
Don’t let anything shake that belief, don’t stop believing!
#3 - MOVE OUT THE MOCKERS
#3 - MOVE OUT THE MOCKERS
Mk 5:38-40 “They came to the house of the synagogue official; and He saw a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing. And entering in, He said to them, “Why make a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep.” They began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and entered the room where the child was.”
“She is not dead, she is sleeping”
They saw death, Jesus saw life
The situation wasn’t permanent
“But putting them all out”
They were mocking Him. This is what a lack of faith looks like: it complains, it fusses, it critiques, laughs, it finds fault, its cantankerous, it makes a lot of noise but no movements,
Jesus had to move them out: APPL. There are some noise makers in your life, not contributing to faith you need to move them out. . .So Jesus can work!!!
There are some in the chruch too, but God will handle His church
#4 - TROUBLE THE MASTER AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS
#4 - TROUBLE THE MASTER AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS
See what happens, He just might blow your mind.
Jesus did not just retore her life, but her health
Mk 5:42 “Immediately the girl got up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded.”
What do we need again to convict us that God is there for us
What do we need again to convict us that God is there for us
Trouble Him for you marriage, your children, your job, your finances
Trouble Him for your peace, struggles, addictions, development
That’s why He says
Rom 8:31 “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?”
1 Pet 5:7 “casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”
Matt 11:28-29 ““Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matt 7:7 ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
Php 4:19 “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Eph 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,”
