Podcast what does it mean to be Christian 1: Who is God?

Introduction:

Hello and thank you for listen to What does it mean to be a Christian today Podcast. In this Podcast I plan to talk about what does it mean to be a Christian today. many people struggle with being a Christian, but to understand what means to be a Christian. We need to know who God is, and we need to know who Jesus is. if you have a Bible with you, I encourage you to follow along as I read the verse.

Fact #1: God is Great:

As people we have always tend to ask questions. We try to think beyond the physical aspect of life. we are searching for truth; we are searching for something that defines us as Human. we seek a purpose in Life. There are two important questions that we need to ask ourselves. Is there a God, and who is he? many people struggle trying to know God including Christians. we are going to look at facts about God that come from the Bible. the first fact that we are going to look at is that God is Great! if you have your Bibles turn them to Deut 5:23-25. Moses just took the people of Israel out Egypt, and they came to the Mt Sinai. Where Moses went up the Mt, for about forty days, and the ten commandments were being made. Deuteronomy 5:23–25

“So it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders. And you said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives. Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God anymore, then we shall die.

What I love about the Old Testament is that we get to read about things God had done for the Israelite nation. if you read these verses here in Deuteronomy, we get a picture of what is going on with people of Israel. We get to see that the Mt is on Fire and a voice is coming out of the Fire. the people of Israel are scared, yet they are amazed with wonder. you also got to consider that these people have seen many other signs that God had done for them. the Ten Plagues (Exodus 7-13), Parting of the Red sea (Exodus 14)

in verse 24 of Deuteronomy, you see that the people of Israel acknowledge God’s glory and greatness, which provokes them to wonder how a man could hear the voice of God, and still live.

this is just few verses of many throughout the Bible that talk about how great God is. the Bible tells us exactly how great God really is, this will lead us to the next Fact about God. as we continue with these facts about God, we get the idea who God is.

Fact #2 God is Good:

Now let go ahead move on the next fact about God. this next Fact is that God is Good. Many people even new Christians tend to blame God for problems that happen in their life. They tend to ask why this must happen or why is this happening to me? why blame the God who is good when terrible things or tough times happen? Let us go ahead and turn in our Bibles to the book of Psalms. Now the book of Psalms is a wonderful book in the Old Testament. this book is a collection of psalms, that worship, glorify, praise, and giving thanks to God. It is good times or tough times. the book of Psalms is the emotions from the Israel people. turn in your Bibles to Psalm 33:4–6 NKJV

Psalm 33:4–6 NKJV

For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

Just here alone in these three verse here in Psalms we see that the person who wrote the Psalm had a good knowledge of God:

just with the verse 4 we see that the word of the Lord is right, and that he loves righteousness and Justices.

God's word are there for us to learn and gain knowledge about him. These are things that he wants us to know. He loves Righteousness, and Justices

Deuteronomy 32:4 NKJV

He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.

we see that God wants us to match his righteousness and his Justices

if we move to verse 5 “The Earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. God design the earth, like most good fathers they provide for their children.

last verse here in Psalm 33 verse 6 we see that just by words of God the Heavens were made. go to Heb 11:3

Hebrews 11:3 NKJV

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Just from these 3 verses from Psalm 33. We see that God is good. we see that God loves righteousness, and Justice for those who seek him, and get to know him. God can do things that man cannot comprehend. which we come to understand that God is good, this will allow us to move to fact number #3.

Fact #3 God is Loving:

we come to see that God is Great, and that God is Good. Now for Fact number #3 about God is that God is Loving. we have a God that Loves us. from the very beginning God has always wanted a relationship with us. we see that in the Gospel of John. if you are following along with your Bibles please turn in your Bible.

John 3:16–17 NKJV

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

we see that God love us so much that he was willing to have plan for us to have a relationship with him through the death of his son.

We need to understand that he did not send his son to condemn the world, but the world was saved by him.

What we see here is a unconditional love for humankind. God had sacrificed his own son, that we could be save through his son sacrifice. we can also look at

1 John 4:7–11 NKJV

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

‌many people struggle with Love today because we have taken Love and twisted to fit our own desires. God who willing let his son died on the cross for our sins so that we can be reconcile to him, that we can have a relationship with him loved us. God wants to express love but their several types of love we can express. family love, there is brotherly love, and Godly love. as you see in 1st John 4:7-11
