Good Morning Parkwood, It is once again a honor to stand before you and be tasked with expositing the Word of God for God’s people.
I am thankful for Pastor Waters and I know he covets your prayers as he begins his sabbatical.
But also know He asked the youth pastor to preach for week 1 of his 8 week sabbatical so that when any of you send your emails to mwaters@parkwoodbaptist.com complaining. He will promptly respond in 8 weeks.
Of course I am just kidding. but just in case you need that email address again it is mwaters@parkwoodbaptist.com.
This morning I want us to look at the third chapter of Pauls second letter to his friend, his disciple, his follow worker. Timothy.
but before we get there I want to spend a little time talking basketball with you church.
Now I am 6’7 and a half. So 6’8. I am by nature a fan of the game of basketball. And this morning I want to tell you about who I think is the single most impactful basketball player of the last 20 years in the NBA and College Basketball.
Now Its not Lebron James. Lebron is 6”8. He is faster and stronger, and he can jump higher than anyone 6’8 is supposed to be and do. He is a God gifted talent.
Lebron didn't just work hard to become great. He was gifted with God given gifts that most of us dont have.
I got the height gift but I didn't get that speed, that strength, and I certainly didn't get the jumping ability.
Lebron is great but he isn't as impactful as this player named Stephen Curry.
Stephen in a lot of ways is the opposite of Lebron. He is short for a nba player. 6 inches shorter than the average player.
Stephen was told when he graduated High School that he was not too skinny.
