John 9:35-38, Knowing Who Jesus is....
John 9:35-38, Knowing Who Jesus is....
Psalms 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”
Introduction
Introduction
Let’s start out by saying there is a difference in just being introduced to someone or meeting someone then it is in truly knowing them.
Someone can say, hey let me introduce you to my friend, such n such, but that doesn’t mean you know them. Or you can be somewhere and someone says, hey do you know such n such and you may answer, yes we have met before.
Neither one of those sceniros mean that you know that individual. Just that you may have had a brief interaction. To truly know someone means that you may hang out, you may have some of the same likes or dislikes and so on.
You know that person and you like being around them and you know-know them.
Once upon a time someone introduced you to a man name Jesus. The only thing you knew about Him is what they told you. We were living off of mama’s prayers and what she told us about him. Oh but one day you met him for yourself. Could have been in a low time in your life but you met him and you got to truly know him for yourself....TALK, PREACH (its amazing how He shows up in the darkest hour of our lives)..
And when He showed up, He showed out....you remembered what mama and daddy told you about Jesus, but you grew to know Him for yourself and the start of a beautiful relationship began....because when you have had a taste of Jesus…I don’t about you but I can say He is sweeter than the day before.....TALK, PREACH...
That’s one thing I say about Time Out Tuesday. Everyone that tunes in may not know each other but I can tell you about one person that they all know, JESUS....some point in their life they were introduced to and then one day they tried Him for themselves and they grew to know HIm and messed around and fell in love with him and I don’t about you but falling in love with Jesus was the best thing I ever done....TALK, PREACH....
KNOWING WHO JESUS IS.....
it will get you saved, it will bring peace to you life....TALK, PREACH....
Body.....
Body.....
Here we are again in John 9..... I just love how the Holy Spirit moves. For the past 3 Sundays, we have been fed from one chapter. We have looked at discipleship, disciples follow him and want to work for Him, so we asked the question, Are you working?,
Next, we saw salvation thru Jesus working in our lives. It’s because of him opening our eyes so we can see that beautiful light. We see where we were at and where we should be. And then be able to declare, I was blind but now I see.
And today, its an invitation to get to know Jesus for yourself, and confess and believe that He is the son of God. That’s important. WHY?
Because as Paul told the church in Rome, Romans 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Knowing Who Jesus is will get you saved.
Let’s walk in the word of God....
New Hope, you gonna know this story of the blind man very well. There other cases in the bible where Jesus healed someone blind but this one in John, New Hope is where we have been fed for the last 3 weeks....
RECAP AND PREACH......
V1-7.....sees the man, heals the man.....
Blind all his life, probably had some hard days.
And it is during those hard days, that you may feel no one sees you.
But Jesus sees him. He sees us in our trials and tribulations. And just like the disciples, we may wonder why we are going thru this. Jesus would say to you today, “Sin is not the issue. The question is not, “Who caused the misery?” The question is, “Will you allow Me to use it?”
Christ will use our dark days to show us who he really is. To show the world who He really is. And upon seeing it, the conviction to come to him to get to know him....TALK, PREACH...
So the man is healed, and if you recall, the questions and doubts start....V8-34,
the neighbors start it off, they take him to the Pharisees, and they start stirring up mess…TALK...
But thru all of that look how he answered in V11, John 9:11 “He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.””
The man was blind so he didn’t see Jesus, but he had been introduced to him. By his response, that tells me that at this point, he didn’t truly know Jesus.
Let’s keep it real, it’s some folk today that don’t truly know Jesus. How do you know preacher? Churches would be full, people wouldn’t be acting like they acting.....TALK, PREACH...
Because if you truly know Him, there will be a change in your life...
So he is healed, he has been questioned, he stands his ground because he knows something was changed in his life and he knows it was by a man named Jesus.
It would have been easy for the son to hide his confession and thus avoid controversy, but he fearlessly stood his ground. He knew what a difference Christ had made in his life, and he could not deny it. Everyone who has met Christ and trusted Him should make it known openly.
Come here 3 Hebrew boys....TALK, PREACH...
So In going toe-to-toe with the Jewish religious leaders, the healed man soundly bested them. Humiliated, they kicked him out of the synagogue to limit his influence on others.
The pharisees get upset and kick him out of the church....WOW....
Instead of rejoicing with him and spreading the good news, they run him away from man’s church....TALK....
So they have kicked him out but here goes some news, Jesus will leave the 99 to find that 1. Matthew 18:10-14...
Look at V35....Jesus has heard of what has happen and he goes looking for him. To be kicked out of the synongue in those days was a big deal…but Jesus was in town....
Jesus approaches him and asks the question, that should be asked all around the world...Do you believe in the Son of God?”
John C. Priority of Faith (9:35–41)
Bible scholar B. F. Westcott claimed this was the first time Jesus offered himself as a personal object of faith.
John C. Priority of Faith (9:35–41)
As Jesus invited the man to believe, he moved from blindness to sight, from fate to faith, and from darkness to light.
Here once again, the man shows that he doesn’t know Jesus for himself but he wants to believe…look at V36....
Church there are people in the world today that want to believe and be part of something good and really don’t which way to go and when they do come to a local church they end up getting the 2023 pharisees....TALK, PREACH....
So next Jesus gives him the answer, look at V37....the word of God says, You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”
When Jesus first healed, he hadn’t seen Jesus but I am sure he knew his voice. He said over in V11, A Man called Jesus, but he has just met the Son Of God.....
When did you come to met Jesus and recognize who He truly was.?....TALK, PREACH....
But when you do get to truly know him, today you come down the aisle and give your confession and prayfully submitt to the will of the Father. Look at what the man’s confession and action....V38, Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter Nine: The Blind Man Calls Their Bluff (John 9)
The man now reached the climax of his knowledge of Jesus Christ and his faith in Him.
Church, he confessed and then he shouted...
If you truly know him, and know what he done for you and what he can do for, what you waiting for go ahead and get your shout on....get your praise on....
Those who believe in him will see all the reason in the world to worship him.
Let me help you with some of those reasons....TALK, PREACH, CLOSE..
