Met Jesus through his brother

v. 43 - 44 - Philip

Jesus calls him. Familiarity with the Old Testament.

v. 45 - 46 - Nathanael

Met Jesus through a friend.

v. 47 - 51 He is still the God who sees.

Nathanael, the cynic.

Nathanael is doubtful, he sees Jesus as improbable.

But he comes to Jesus with his doubts, and he give him the benefit of those doubts.

Jesus meets him where he is in a way that allays his doubts.

Jesus rewards his initial faith with promise of future use.

Today is a simple message, with a somewhat deep idea at the end.
