Q3 What does the Bible teach? Q3 ()

(5) Leading Question:
Ok kiddos listen closely I have a challenge, I want you to build me the exact kit from all of these Lego's wait 30 seconds
Maybe some of you are thinking, “how can we build the exact Lego kit? We don’t have the instructions” You are right! Unless you have the instructions you will likely never build the exact kit right? I want to talk about instruction manuals now… What is the best instruction manual you can think of? Wait for Answers_________________ Lego/IKEA/YouTube
(2) Development:
When we need to do something that we don’t know how to do, isn’t it nice when there is an instruction manual that shows how? Otherwise, we are just guessing if we don’t have the manual, right?
Usually the best instruction manuals come from the manufacturer, the maker of the kit.
(3) Connection:
Last week we learned what the purpose of people is. Q1 What is the purpose of people?
A1 The purpose of people is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever! Repeat
Well, how do we do that? Does anyone know how to glorify God and enjoy Him forever without being told? We need an instruction manual, right!?! Just like the Lego kit. If we don’t have the instruction manual we’re just guessing right?
(2) Extension:
So, before we go on, “is there a danger if we don’t read the instruction manual?" Wait for Answers________ Yep, we will make all kinds of weird decisions and never fulfill our purpose
Ultimately there are many dangers! If we don’t follow the manual we will not fulfill our purpose and we will never glorify God or enjoy Him forever.
(2) Explain:
Tonight we are answering the question, “Where Does God Explain His Purpose For People?”
Does anyone know the answer? Repeat as necessary Wait for Answers___________
(1) Answer:
Q2 Where does God explain His purpose for people?
A2 God Explains His Purpose For People In Scripture.
Now I am going to prove that to you from Scripture and then if its okay with you all I will add a warning and then we will finish with singing what we learned and prayer. First Scripture, then warning and then singing and prayer.
(8) Prove
Ps 19.7-11 “The law of Yahweh is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of Yahweh is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of Yahweh are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of Yahweh is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of Yahweh is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of Yahweh are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, even more than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Your slave is warned; In keeping them there is great reward.” What’s the great reward - salvation through Jesus!
2 Tim 3.15-17 “and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be equipped, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (The Bible tells us how to live - It is from God)
Hebrews 4.12 “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
2 Peter 1.20-21 “Know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes by one’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever made by the will of man, but men being moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”
(2) Block:
People can never learn their purpose, they can never learn how to glorify God from movies, tv, or school. God is our Maker, and only He knows what He designed us for. Only He can tell us what gives Him the most glory and how to enjoy Him forever. It would be silly to hop into the cockpit of a jet or a helicopter and think we can fly it without being trained - why would we do that with life?
TV, YouTube, Books, Video Games will never tell us our purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever? No, they don’t do that. They are for entertainment and skill training not for for helping us understand our purpose. We need to go to what God has said so that we can hear from Him what He made us for how we are to do that.
