Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV)
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
FATHER’S DAY
Father’s Day comes after Mother’s Day. That’s so the bills for Mother’s Day will arrive just in time for Father’s Day.
A small boy’s definition: “Father’s Day is just like Mother’s Day, only you don’t spend as much on the present.”[1]
Children of fathers who feel good about themselves and have high self-esteem grow up with more confidence and a higher opinion of themselves.
A recent study of 105 mothers, fathers, and their children over fourteen years old found that a dad’s self-esteem is more critical than a mom’s in the way children feel about themselves.[2]
Four years: My Daddy can do anything!
7 years: My Dad knows a lot … a whole lot.
8 years: My Father does not know quite everything.
12 years: Oh, well, naturally Father does not know that either.
14 years: Oh, Father? He is hopelessly old-fashioned.
21 years: Oh, that man—he is out of date!
25 years: He knows a little bit about it, but not much.
30 years: I must find out what Dad thinks about it.
35 years: Before we decide, we’ll get Dad’s idea first.
50 years: What would Dad have thought about that?
60 years: My Dad knew literally everything!
65 years: I wish I could talk it over with Dad once more.[3]
