Story about Jalisa
It was like the Prison guard in Acts 16:29-30, What must I do to be saved . Pauls response to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your presence—
Isaiah has been reviewing a tragic past.
Isaiah 63:17-19 “17 O Lord, why have You made us stray from Your ways, And hardened our heart from Your fear? Return for Your servants’ sake, The tribes of Your inheritance. 18 Your holy people have possessed it but a little while; Our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary. 19 We have become like those of old, over whom You never ruled, Those who were never called by Your name.”
Oh Lord why have made us stray from Your way? Lord aren’t you active, revealing yourself you made us stray away.
And hardened our hearts from Your fear? - Lord you made us not to fear you. Your the reason why we are in this condition. Like God its your fault why I don’t respect You.
So Isaiah is reviewing the tragic pass of God people.
( Go back to Isaiah 64) Lord you can change history if you just rend the heavens. Tear the heavens. If you will just become active with your people again.
You can get rid of poverty if you just tear the heavens in two.
You can do away with evil if you just rend the heavens.
Romans 9:20 “20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?””
There will be no need for government and for you to lock your door at night if He just rend the heavens.
Everything can change in a moment.
2 As fire burns brushwood, As fire causes water to boil— To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence!
bushwood =-rubble
Fire is considered to be judgement. A picture of Gods judgement on his enemies.
3 When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down, The mountains shook at Your presence.
4 For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
God could deal with these issues with such ease, but the sobering question is why should HE?
8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
Deut. 7:7-9 “7 The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Before Israel became His people they where clay.
Before they knew the different from Genesis and Malachi they where clay.
They where set apart for the Potters use and they where ready to be molded anyway the Potter seen fit.
Considered to be the least of all peoples.
They where so small they where clay. Little insignifanct people.
When Saul was small in his own eyes God made him king.
Abraham I called you alone and increased you . He was small. Clay.
Why is God called The Father?
All the compassions of all the tender fathers in the world compared with the tender mercies of our God would be but as a candle to the sun or a drop to the ocean.
Matthew Henry
