We need to recognize when God’s calling somebody else to step up
We need to recognize when God’s calling somebody else to step up
David was secretly annointed new king by Saul in the previous chapter.
David was celebrated in his accolades. God gave him success in everything that he did. But rather than see that as a sign - Saul saw it as a threat.
We need to be willing to give up the armor
We need to be willing to give up the armor
saul says, ‘you’re crazy! you couldn’t possibly do this!’
Saul decided it couldn’t be done - because it didn’t look like what he was used to.
Saul should have been discerning and curious, rather than judgmental. It’s easy to say, ‘no, i disagree because this isn’t what I know or what I’m used to’. It takes more time to listen.
There are lots of younger people here that have things to say. And they bring things to the table that our church needs to be healthy.
… and we need to be willing to let the other guy not use it

David says, this doesn’t fit. I’m not used to it. It’s not my thing.
