Introduction
Scripture Passage

The Power of the Sheperd

Matthew 9:35 ESV
35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.

The gospel of the kingdom must be preached?

Jesus used the healing as a platform to preach.

All of Chapter 9

Those oppressed by evil spirits
The paralytic
brought a girl back to life
Heals two blind men
Heals the dumb

The Compassion of the Shepherd

Matthew 9:36 ESV
36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

People are helpless without the gospel of Christ.

The gospel is the answer for more than just heaven.

The gospel brings hope to this life as well.

We must find the compassion of the Lord as we come into our towns.

When people are healed by the gospel they want to stay close to Jesus.

The man in the tombs delivered by Jesus. He wanted to stay with Jesus.

The gospel message went hand and hand with the healing.

The Commission of the Shepherd

Matthew 9:37–38 ESV
37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

The time for the harvest in now!

John 4:35 ESV
35 Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.

Laborers of the Lord’s harvest do what Jesus did.

Matthew 10:1 ESV
1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

We have the power through the Scriptures to heal the disease and affliction of sin.

As people find hope and healing in Jesus, they will receive him as Lord.

Conclusion
Now let’s take this scenario and put it in real time. How would we come into a town and build a platform for people to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
In Mombassa Chris began Real 4 Christ by:
Providing a well of fresh water for the people.
A clinic for the health of the people.
A school with the best education in the state.
He created a community center that improved the lives of everyone around them.
Then he added a church that meets on Sunday in the facility.
Now their is Pastoral training to start new works.
Real 4 Christ now takes that model and reproduces it in every place they go.
This community center model is exactly what we are doing here.
a mental health facility.
a family discipleship program with transitional housing to teach people how to live.
Jobs for life training for sustainable employment.
After school programs for leadership training of the students
Pastoral / Leadership training for the next generation of church planters
Church planting (We want to take this model and do it again.)
Team Questions
Describe what impressed you most about the Real4Christ ministry.
What did the Lord reveal you personally while on this discovery trip?
How are you hoping our church will change because of this trip?
What are the next steps we need to take to bring this vision to pass?
