I. God Puts Those in Authority

A. Every Soul is to Be Subject Unto Higher Powers

B. There is No Power But of God

C. The Powers Are Ordained of God

Rom 13:1-2 “1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

D. If You Resist Them, You Resist the Ordinance of God

E. Those That Resist Will Receive Damnation

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”

F. We Are to Submit to Every Ordinance/Laws of Man

G. They Are Sent by Him for Punishment of Evildoers

H. They Praise Them That Do Well

1 Pet 2:13-14 “13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.”

I. It is the Will of That With Well Doing You May Put to Silence the Ignorance of Foolish Men

1 Pet 2:15 “15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:”

II. Rulers Have the Power by God to Enforce Justice on Those Who Break the Laws

A. You Do Not Have to Have Terror, If You Do Good Works, Keep the Laws

Rom 13:3-4 “3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

B. If You Do Evil, Be Afraid for He Bears Not the Sword in Vain

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain:

C. He is the Minister of God to Revenge and to Execute Wrath Upon Those That Do Evil

D. That Includes Everybody, Whether They Are a Common Person or the President

for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”
