Truth over Tribe" is a phrase that emphasizes the importance of prioritizing truth, facts, and objective information over blind loyalty or allegiance to a particular group or ideology. It encourages individuals to seek truth and make decisions based on evidence and critical thinking, rather than simply aligning with a specific tribe or partisan group.
The concept of "Truth over Tribe" promotes independent thinking, open-mindedness, and a commitment to facts and evidence. It encourages people to question their own beliefs and biases, engage in civil discourse, and seek common ground based on shared truths.
While "Truth over Tribe" is not specifically associated with a particular book, it is a principle often discussed in the context of political polarization, tribalism, and the importance of fostering a more inclusive and rational discourse in society.

Luke 4:16-22 “16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 And all spoke well of him and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?””

Sports teams-
Although these are serious to the true fans. . it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
(tell the story of the Florida-TN game freshman year. . . man is climbing the stadium)
when it comes to politics and hard topics… Tribalism and a lack of trust leads to someone getting hurt.
How can we get past this? How can we truly have a more perfect union?
Examples of how to get past this.
1. Reading of Scripture
2. Receive the love of God
3. Expanding our horizons:
listening to variety of media..
Reading books/listening to podcasts- historical or political
engaging in fruitful conversations- outside our normal boundaries
The Book says in Chapter 11: Showing Generosity and Kindness.
we see this in Jesus proclaiming the year of Jubilee. He gives the free gift of salvation to all regardless social status, political identification, and tribal section.
He showed by Doing. . . by being generous.
He breaks the dividing wall of hostility
14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility
we see with new eyes
11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience. 12 We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
