From the Drivers Seat:
Hydraulic check on Breaks: Press the break in 3 times and hold it. Then you will crank the bus and as long as the pedal does not drop you are good. Then you will push the emergency break in, and put it into gear and make sure it holds. If it holds, put it back into Park and cut the engine off.
Mirrors and Wind Shield: No cracks, scrapes, or illegal stickers. Windshield has no cracks, scrapes, or illegal stickers. the windshield wipers are good, the rubber on the blades are good.
Inside the Bus:
Headlights, dimmer switches, turn signals, windshield wiper and washer buttons, emergency flashers, oil pressure gauge works, fuel gauge works, tachometer workers, speedometer works, engine temp works, battery gauge works, your gear shift is tight, your heat/defrost works,
Your student mirror is set for you, your white line (standee line) is in the floor (to the right)
Your safety: Spare fuses, 3 triangles, fire-extinguisher, seat belt is not cut or frayed and it locks up like it should. First aid kit and body fluid kit are insight. Seats are tied down bolted down like they should be. Emergency exits work like they should (on the side and on the roof)
Outside Bus
Clearance lights are the right color and they all work
Engine: Battery is secured like it should be, wind shield wiper fluid is here, transmission fluid and dip stick is here, engine oil and dip stick is here and the oil is good, brake fluid is here and the fluid is a proper level, your radiator overflow tank is here and it has the proper amount of antifreeze in it, your power steering fluid is here and it has the correct amount of fluid in it.
Fan, fan clutch, water pump, alternator, and power steering pump is all belt driven and the belts have no more than 3/4 inch slack in it.
Exhaust manifold does not have soot to indicate an exhaust leak.
Radiator is not damaged or leaking. Radiator and heater hoses are not leaking. Power steering hoses are good. Hood and grill are not damaged.
Lights:
High beam, low beam, turn signal, 4-way, and marker light. (must name all for the point)
Front bumper is level (indicate there is no problem with your suspension)
No hoses, wires, or leaks underneath the bus.
Drivers Side Wheel: No excessive slack in steering shaft for power steering. Power steering box is not damaged or leaking and is secure. Mounts for Springs are in place, not cracked or damaged and are lined up.
3 piece steering arm: Pitman arm, drag link, steering arm ( You can say your 3 piece is in place and it’s all tight, it has its castle nut and cotter pin in it. Your shocks are not damaged or leaking and the mounts are good for them.
Brakes: Your brake lines, brake calipers, your brake rotar (the rotar does not have any cracks or illegal welds in them), your break shoes have at least 1/4 inch of break material on them, there is no oil or contaminants that would effect breaking, torsion arm is in place and is not damaged.
Tire: Rim does not have any cracks or illegal welds in them. The side walls are smooth, 4/32 tread, smooth across the top, lug nuts are in place and no rust or shiny spots to indicate they’re loose. The hub has the correct amount of oil in it. The tire has the correct amount of air in it. Mud flaps are secure and are the proper height off the ground. Door opens ans shuts like it should, and the door shield is in place. All hangers on the muffler are in place. No soot on muffler.
Drive shaft is in good shape, U-Joints are greased, no damaged to drive shaft.
REAR
Rear axles and Suspension: Front and rear spring hangers and springs are in place. The u-bolts holding the springs to the axle are in place. No rust or shiny metal to indicate they are loose. The top and bottom mount on shock is good, the shock is not damaged or leaking. Brake lines, brake caliper, brake shoe material is at least 1/4 material, no oil or contaminants that prevent braking. Both rims do not have breaks or illegal welds. Both sidewalls are smooth and good, no bulges, at least 2/32 tread, the bud spacing between the tires is correct, nothing hanging between the duals. All lug nuts are in place, no rust or shiny metal. Both valve stems are in place, both have correct amount of air, hub has correct amount of oil and is not leaking. Mud flap is in place and is correct height.
Fuel cap has a chain and seal inside it. Fuel tank has the correct hangers with rubber between the tank and hangers. Fuel tank is not damages. Tank has cage. Fuel line to engine is not damaged or leaking.
Marker light is the right color. Clearance light at top are the right color and are not damaged.
Tail lights do 4 things. 2 flash, 2 do not. You have a stop, a tail, a turn, and a 4-way and they all work. License plate light is good. Reflector and DOT tape is good. Bumper is in place and is good. Cargo door opens, shuts, and locks like it should. The cargo door has a keeper to keep it open when opened.
Simulate a railroad crossing. You turn emergency flashers on 200 feet from railroad crossing, stop 15-50 feet from the tracks, you open doors and windows to make sure you do not see or hear a train, shut doors and windows, you will go across the tracks, and when completely across you will turn emergence flashers off.
No illegal welds or cracks to the frame.
Exhaust manifold is good and has no soot to indicate a leak. Point to things. Do not have to touch them.
