Don’t look over little

Scripture

I Kings 17 10-12

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

Introduction:

My brothers and sisters I believe we all would agree that our God is a Big God. He is so Big that he is omnipresent meaning that he omnipresent meaning that he can be everywhere at the same time. He’s so big that he omniscient that there isn’t anything he doesn’t know.He so big that God spoke: “Sky! In the middle of the waters; separate water from the sky !”

He is so Big that we can never even attempt to figure him out.Isaih 40:28 declares that there is no searching of his understanding.

Limits to him he can do whatever he wants.

Although God is a big God, it should not be mistaken that he does not use small in order to accomplish and complete some areas in our life.

As a matter of fact the Bible said that if you have faith the size of a mustard see you can say to this mountain be ye removed and the mountain shall be removed.

Oftentimes we we will negate our call and anointing we will negate our purpose because we feel as though our assignment is not big enough.

Can I just right there and testify that there was times in my life where I felt inadequate where I felt not good enough because things was not as big as I thought It was. Because situations was not working out as fast as I thought it was.

You don’t have to raise your hand but is there anyone in here that can say I have been there before. When it seems as though I was doing all I could but still ended up on the small size. I ve worked all these hours and seems like my check was still small.

I came to encourage you to not get discouraged when situation don’t move as quick as you think they should move. Don’t get distracted when Big don’t happen when we think it should happen but we must learn how to be faithful over small before God will bless us with Big.

the Bible says in Matthew 25:23 If you are faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over Many…

Our problem is we try to skip over the few, and get to many.

Truth of the matter Is we can not pray for BIG with a Small mindset

We can not pray for BIG with small character.

Because God is Wise he does not give us more than we can handle….

We always say he won’t put more on us than we can bare but the saying is true..

God will not give you a million dollars if you can manage the 500

God will not bless you with the 5 bedroom home if we are struggling to pay the rent on the 1 bedroom apartment…

We have to be faithful over what we have..Until God give us what we want…

“Look at somebody and say be faithful over what you have, until God give you what you want.

If we were to be honest we all like to look big, We all like to how they say Do it Big. But don’t fool yourself the truth of the matter is everything that we run to and try to be on the scene is not what it look like….

I don’t want to put out an image in church…

On social media and then when reality hit I go home and feel small.

I’d rather be big in private and looked at as small in public.

There is a saying that if we’re are to big for a small job thane we are to small for a big Job.

What I’ve come to understand is that most people love the big in God. However we don’t want to go through the process of starting small and ending up big.

Even the birth of something starts starts out small….

We all all started as as an embryo no one even knew what was in our mother when as months go by and trimesters go by we develop and and we begin to show….

After a while they saying come along.

Truth of matter is that we have have to start some somewhere.

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand

The truth of the matter is just because it is small today don’t mean it can’t be big tomorrow because we live life in seasons.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says to everything there is a time and a season.

That’s why the bible says be not weary in well doing because in due what……”season”.

You shall reap if you faint not.

The times and and season of our life are determined by God.

If we can’t not be faithful in the little season don’t expect God to bless us with BIG.

God in his infinite wisdom work things together for his final fulfillment and purpose.

He True enough God is a Big God

My brothers and my sisters there is a saying that says It’s the little things that makes a difference. Although this saying is somewhat cliche I believe we all at some point in our lives have looked over the little. We even in our own ambitions spiritually and professionally sometimes look at our abilities and our ideas as little and therefore we discredit ourselves . Can I encourage you that this is not the season to discredit yourselves, this is not the season to dummy down. This is not the season for you to look at all your mistakes. However, this season God is getting ready to turn your little into Big. . Your little money to big money. Your little idea to a big idea. Your little vision to Big Vision. Someone open up your moth and say BIG!!!!. I come to encourage you that it’s about your mindset, a little idea in a Big mind can change your life. However, My brothers and my sisters I believe we should not look over our little ideas, our little vision, our little business now. Because when something that is little is placed in Gods hand he can make it big.

I thought about the value of coins . If you place a dime, a nickel and penny in the same space. If one were going by size he would pick the nickel because it’s bigger and would most likely pick the dime last because it’s smaller..

My brothers and my sister sometimes its the little idea the little vision the little effort that God can use to make something Big.

That’s why we have to stop surrounding ourselves with people who have no idea….

A small idea is better than no idea.

If people are going to help you they need to have some knowledge and vision cloven if it’s

As society I believe that we have overlooked the small things. Jesus himself came in a small package. The people were looking for something mega. However ,Jesus came as a baby. He came little he came humble. However although he was little he was BIG.

The bible said it like this. If you are faithful over a few things God will make you ruler over many.

If you faithful over the small talents. He will give you more.

Jesus tells a parable about a master who gave one servant 5000 coins he gave another 2000 coins and he gave another 1000 coins according to how he could use them.

The servant who had 5000 went out and worked on his 5000 and brought back 5000 more. The servant who had 2000 coins went out and worked ha

rd and brought back 2000 more coins. but the servant who had only 1 did something different he went out dug a hole and buried his coins. The master came back and said well done thy good and faithful servant now I will give you more and make you ruler of many.

However when he got to the one servant. The servant said lord I only received 1000 and he felt his 1000 was not enough. He said lord I w ent out and buried it. I didn’t use it. So Jesus took the 1000 coins from the one who did not use it and gave it to the good servants.

He uses this as an example of gifts of talents. How many of us are like the one who receiveth only 1000. Lord because I dont see my talent or gift as much Im burying it. Can I encourage you don’t bury your gift or talent because you see it as small. Use what you have for the building up of Gods kingdom.

Context-Elijah was a prophet of God. Last week we talked about the steps of a Good man. In this particular context we see a prime example of God ordering Elijah’s step. God sent a drought to the land of Israel. Because of Israel’s disobedience they did not have any rain. God forewarns Elijah and tells him to move to a different region. He tell gives him instructions to go to a brook and he shall drink of that brook and the Ravens shall bring him bread.

Wasn’t long before the brook dried up again God gives instructions again to go Zarepeth God explains

That a women will be there who will take care of him.

Elijah gets to the city and sure enough he finds the widow. He asked the widow to give him a little water in a vessel that he may drink. The woman did not have an issue with getting the water she goes on her way and gets the water and before she could even leave his presence, Elijah calls her back and say while your at it can you go and make me a cake to.

Isn’t that Just like some of our situation when it seems like before you can get one thing done here come another. Soon as you get out of one situation you go into another. Soon as you get over one problem here come another. However is there anyone can say, Come what may, Im still going to trust lean and depend on God, Come what may Im still going wait until my change come. Come what may.

So this widow in return says to Elijah All I have is a little, oil and little food. I have plan on taking what I have and giving it to my son and die.

In a sense this woman looked over her little.

However she had an Elijah in her life that says if all you have is a little. Let’s work with you have. He said go ahead and make me a cake

With what you have.

She heard the man of God and did as he said.

In return her and family ate for many days after.

We have to stop minimizing the vision and plans that God gave us. Because it’s the small idea that God give you that may change your life….

Mustard seed faith-Little faith- move big mountains

Points-

A. She trusted God with her little and God turned it into something big.

We have to learn to trust God with what we have understanding that with God their is limited potential to what’s in his hand. Can you trust God with your vision your with your life. The prophet told her to give even though she did not have much. She believed in the word and said Lord. I dont know how this is going to work out. However, Im going to trust God. Ive learned that most of the blessings that I receive often required me to move out of my comfort zone, to move away from what I thought was the answer and trusting God to work it out. This widow gave and trusted God and in return her and her son ate for days after. Before she trusted the word of the prophet. She was hopeless because she told Elijah that Im on my last meal and then me and my son will most likely die. Is there anyone in here that can say. I was like this widow in the sense that before. I trusted God with my life. I was hopeless like a ship without a sail. However, I gave hime a little sorrow and he returned in to joy. I gave him a little ashes and in return he gave me something beautiful.

No only did she trust God with her little but

B. Also she was willing to give what all she had even though it was a little.

Many tend to believe that their gift or their talent or whatever they have to give is to little. However we must understand that if you give all you have God can turn it around. Whatever, you do put your all into it. Im not talking about finances, Im talking about effort, Im talking about serving God. If God have given you the ability sing, If God have given you the ability to pray, If God have given you the ability to preach , teach. Give it your all to build up the body. He needs something to work with. Everybody has to start somewhere. Whenever you are when you start. God will give to the increase. You must take the first step to make it up the staircase. Most people won’t make the first step because the first step is little.

C. Obedience-was a little thing that went along way-

She obeyed the word of God. When we Obey God what we have he increases. We want to take our little Joy, little peace to much. We have to obey they word he gives instructions to how to receive what we praying for. Because she obeyed the word when it looked as though I did not make sense at the time. Her blessing was a result of her obedience.

Jesus proves the value of little in Matthew 14:14 when he finds the multitude the came to him with only two fish and five loaves of bread. To them they didn’t have enough. However, Jesus tells them to sit down and he was able to feed 5000 with only a little. What Am I saying? I’m saying that we cannot despise small beginnings. We cannot despise the vision, the call the anointing on our life because we feel its to little. God has a way of changing a little into a-lot.

Little visions make big companies.

Little ideas produce big results.

Faithful over a few ruler over many,

It maybe small now but.Keep working

Don’t quit.

Me and my daughter was putting together a puzzle. We got to the last little piece. It was only little small piece but the puzzle could not be complete until we found that one little piece. Missing that one little piece ruined the whole puzzle.

Your the piece that is needed for the Body of christ. I’m the piece that can change my family. Im the piece that Can push the ministry to the next level. Im the piece that can. Im the piece that can bring other to christ. Im the piece that My brothers may need. Lord help me use what I have.

It may only be a little but I give it to you.

There was a story of manager we who posted a sign on door that said “now hiring” a young boy came in and out in the application and he was hired on the spot. He was directed to the back to trash pile.

The little boy immediately turned in his notice.

The manager out the sign back on the door.

Another boy came in and was directed to the same trash.

Move the small things out of the way the more he moved the small things the cleaner the area begin to look. As he got almost to the bottom he noticed a a check book. The boy turned it on to the manger. The manager begin to right and replied there your first month checks. You where willing to do the little things.

Some of us are dealing with the little things now.

Can I just remind you that Don’t depose small beginnings

If you are faithful over a few things God will make you ruler over many.

If you have the faith the size of a mustard seed.

Maybe There is one today that can say. I don’t know Christ as my savior. I thought I was too little to fit on to the Body of Christ. However, you are not too little, When you are in Gods hand ever thing you did in your past that made you feel as though you don’t add up or that you feel as though you can’t approach Such a big God is thrown in the Sea of forgetfulness.

You are valuable. Your are big enough.
