Gal 2:1-10

Galatians 2:1–10 NKJV
Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me. And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.
b OF GOOD REPUTATION THAT ALL KNOW THAT YOU ARE A DISCIPLE A FOLLOWER A SERVANT OF CHRIST
WE SEE HERE IT WAS BY PAULS LIVING AS WELL AS HIS TEACHINGS THAT WERE JUDGED WHETHER HE HAD RUN I VEIN
HAVE WE RUN IN VEIN?
Galatians 2:2 NKJV
And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:1–2 NKJV
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
The dictionary definition of “vain” is “unproductive of success; futile.” In religious terms, believing in vain means to believe without hope or purpose. To have faith without works is to have faith that will never amount to anything. In other words, it’s a wasted effort.
The Apostle Paul wrote, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Cor. 13:13). Paul’s point is that we are to have faith, hope, and love, but that love is the greatest of these. And what does love require of us? It requires action. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, Paul goes on to say that love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
If we are to have any hope of our faith amounting to anything, if we are to have any chance at eternal life, then we must put our faith into action. We must do more than just believe. We must put our trust in Jesus Christ and follow His commands. We must love God and love our neighbor. Mark 7:7-13
Mark 7:7–13 NKJV
And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.” He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban”—’ (that is, a gift to God), then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”
The word "corban" is a Hebrew word, meaning "that which is brought near," "a gift or offering to God." Hence, figuratively, the place where these offerings were deposited was called the "corbanas," or, "sacred treasury" (see Matthew 27:6, κορβανᾶν). Hence to say of anything, "It is Corban," was to say that it had a prior and more sacred destination. And when it was something that a parent might need, to say, "It is Corban," i.e. it is already appropriated to another purpose, was simply to refuse his request and to deny him assistance, and so to break one of the first of the Divine commandments. Thus the son, by crying "Corban" to his needy parents, shut their mouths, by opposing to them a scruple of conscience, and suggesting to them a superstitious fear. It was as much as to say, "That which you ask of me is a sacred thing which I have devoted to God. Beware, therefore, lest you, by asking this of me, commit sacrilege by converting it to your own uses." Thus the parents would be silenced and alarmed, choosing rather to perish of hunger than to rob God. To such extremities did these covetous scribes and Pharisees drive their victims, compelling a son to abstain from any kind offices for his father or his mother.
back in Galatians he uses the word run in vein PUAL STATES THIS IN SUCH A WAY THAT I THINK HE HIMSELF MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN THE ANSWER
THE DEVIL SOWS TARES AMONG THE WHEAT THE LOOK Good THEY SOUND GOOD BUT THEIR FRUIT IS POISONOUS. I THINK EVEN PAUL WANTED AFFIRMATION FROM THE LORDS APOSTLES THAT HE TRULY WAS DONG THE WILL OF GOD, REMEMBER PAUL HAD FALLEN BEFORE BECAUSE OF HIS PRIDE HIS ZEALOUS NATURE, SURE HE LOVED GOD BUT HE DID THINGS IN THE NAME OF GOD THAT WERE UNSPEAKABLE VIOLENCE UPON THE LORD AND HIS BRIDE THE CHURCH
PAUL HAD BEEN GUILTY BEFORE OF RUNNING BEFORE HE LEARNED TO WAIT ON THE LORD LETTING HIS PASSION FOR GOD LEAD HIM OFF THE NARROW PATH
I BELIEVE PAUL NOT ONLY WAS TOLERANT OF THE OTHERS QUESTIONS BUT WELCOMED THEM AS HE TRULY LOVED THE LORD JESUS AND WANTED TO SERVE HIM WELL.
WE ALL NEED AFFIRMATION EVEN THE APOSTLE PAUL HERE , WE NEED TO ALSO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE WHEN WE STUMBLE THAT WE MAY BE RESTORED IN LOVE,
PAUL SUBMITTED TO THE APOSTLES/ HE SAW JESUS HE COULD HAVE LET THAT GO TO HIS HEAD BUT NO HE SUBMITTED TO THEM . WE SEE ALLOT OF FOLKS WHO THINK THEY ARE SPIRITUALLY MORE ELITE THEY WILL NOT SUBJECT THEMSELVES TO EXAMINATION OF THE CHURCH NOR THEIR TEACHINGS BECAUSE LIKE LUCIFER PRIDE HAS TAKEN ROOT, BUT NOT PAUL HERE WE SEE A EXAMPLE OF PAUL LIVING OUT HIS FAITH LIVING OUT THE WORD SUBMIT TO YOUR ELDERS
Hebrews 13:17 NKJV
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
ONE OF THE JOBS OF THE CHURCH IS TO PROTECT THE FLOCK, NOTICE THEY JUDGED PAUL SOME THAT MEANT TO BRING HARMON BARNABAS AND PAUL BUT NEVER THE LESS PAUL SUBMITTED TO THE CHURCH TO THE OTHER DISCIPLES ALLOWED THEM TO SEE HOW GOD HAD USED HIM WHAT HIS TEACHINGS WERE IF HE WAS A WHEAT OR A TARE
A GOAT OR a SHEEP
i READ A QUOTE FROM SPURGEON THAT SAID A PASTOR MUST HAVE TWO VOICES ONE TO DRIVE OUT THE WOLVES AND ONE TO CALL THE SHEEP
IT WAS TIME FOR THEM TO SEE IF PAUL BELONGED TO THE FAITH OR IF HE WAS A WOLF IN SHEEP CLOTHING THAT THE LORD WARNED THEM ABOUT
LOOK AT WHAT PAUL SAID HERE
Acts 20:28–30 NASB95
“Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. “I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
Matthew 7:15 NASB95
“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Matthew 24:4–5 NASB95
And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many.
Paul wanted to give a defence of the Gospel He preached but he also wanted affirmation he had not run in vein and been a Wolf himself
The issues was the legalistic demanded the converts be circumcise as in the Law Paul stated even Titus who is with me was not even compelled to be sacrificed he says they are trying to put the freedom Christ has given and put chains back on the slave Christ set them free and man want to re enslave them
Stay in your Lane
Peter and he other apostles after hearing Pauls Gospel affirmed His gospel putting to rest the attacks of the legalistic. He says the other apostles will preach to the circumcised the Jews I will preach to the gentile to the Greek to all others.
Different mission same purpose
lots of pastors have different styles to reach different people just because a style is different does not mean the purpose or outcome is ,
Matt chandler and steven furtick
The issue is still the same thus far in Galatians is the Gospel the heart of the Gospel is it the Gospel of Gods grace and mercy sent down through the son Jesus that he who entrusts their life unto him shall not perish but have everlasting life if that is the Gospel then style whether it be Paul Peter Barnabas Apollo Ron, Phil, Ray, or Jimmy the style maybe different the target audience may not be the same the delivery may not be the same but is the heart of the gospel the same if it is then praise God sty in your lane. So how about you
When we look at the Gospel of Jesus Christ have you entrusted your life into his hands have you given him your worries have you given him the blessings have you entrusted him with your spouse children or grandchildren, how about you job, money or time, Are all these thing His if they are not and you have been feeling a bit overwhelmed a but depressed a bit anxious let me call upon your heart today give Jesus all your worries all you pain all your grief put it all in His hands he alone is your solution
