Hear these words from Jesus in John 5:24

John 5:24 HCSB

“I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.

As we gather here now, we are reminded and confronted with the finality of this life on earth, where we all experience the pains of struggle, challenges, difficulty, and trials. Jesus spoke of these things throughout his life and ministry. This is why he comforts His disciples with these words:

John 16:33 HCSB

I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”

Prayer:

Lord of heaven and earth,

We come before you now asking for your peace upon each of us. We have seen and experienced suffering together and now, we ask for your gentle arms to wrap around us all and remind us of your promise to bring people from death to life through Your Son. Lord, we commit Denny to your eternal care as we return his earthly body to the ground from which we come, but pray now that he has new, eternal life through the gift of Your Son. It is in His name that I pray. Amen.
