Relationship is the work God has given us

Acts 2:46–47 CSB
46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
What characterized the early church?
They were growing in the teaching of scripture
They were spending time together in worship
They were spending time together in food and fellowship
They were taking care of each others needs
As a result...
They enjoyed the favor of their community - opened doors
The Lord grew the church
God hasn’t given us goals and tasks
We don’t have performance metrics
We aren’t trying to run programs
It isn’t our job to sell Jesus
God has given us people
Everyone of us can do what God has called us to do
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”
The work of the Gospel is the work of relationship
It is through the experience of your love that people will believe what you say about Jesus
“Results” can’t be the goal of relationship - loving people is the goal - it’s frustratingly immeasurable

Discussions Questions

In John 13:35 Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Think about that. Why does love convince people that a message is true?
When we say, “relationship is the work that God has given us” - what does that mean to you? How do you understand it?
How can you open your heart and home to people who don’t yet know Jesus? or people who are just beginning to find Him?
