Freedom

Every single person is Lost, or Has been lost to sin

We were, or are slaves to sin

John 8:34 NLT

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.

The Sad part is that many people do not even realize that they are slaves and in need of freedom.

Some are completely ok with being in sin or just not want to make the choice to Follow Christ and be given freedom

people try to bring meaning in there life apart from God

even some Atheists say that there is a higher power but give the credit to Aliens

In this clip we see Mel Gibson’s character Benjamin Martin sees the dangers in fighting a war and make excuses as to why he will not fight

People make their own excuses why they will not follow

The Bible was written, so long ago

we live in a modern world

it’s not reliable

In our own lives do we not do the same when it comes to sin?

What sin are you holding on too that you make excuses for?

Are you falling back into the slavery that you were freed from?

Galatians 5:1 NIV

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Maybe you have not made the choice to follow Christ

And you are making excuses

I’m not good enough

i’m not ready to give up this lifestyle

I don’t believe

I have issues with what the Bible says

Many times we will not take things seriously until things become real for us, much like in this next clip

After this scene Benjamin’s son tries to save his brother and ends up being shot, but Ben enters the war to save his other son.

Ben sees the problems with the British rule,

sees the life being burned up and

sees a life that is under the rule of evil men.

He knows that he has to choose to fight for the betterment of everyone.

In our lives often we have to hit rock bottom before we make a change

our sin catches up with us

we get so depressed because we live a life with no hope

our choices lead us down a path that leaves us with nothing

Many times that is when we see that something needs to change

People try to fill this hole with different fillers just to be let down when those fall short

maybe you fill that today, or have felt that

You try to fill that void with drinking

drugs

gambling

Maybe its something good

social justice

community service

but its just falling short

With the drinking ect. you are just led down a darker hole farther and farther and then you have no idea how to get out.

With good things that you try to fill it with, you are left lost because you don’t understand why you are still feeling like something is missing.

Then something happens and you are left with a choice

Do I follow God

or do I keep living the way that I am

Ben. had this choice, his one son is being taken to be executed and his other son is left murdered

He could stay and do nothing

or he can rescue his son and make a better life for his kids.

Because of Bens choice to fight he helped birth our nation

he gave

His kids a better future

his son that died honor

he helped build a nation that was free

When you make the choice to follow Jesus you find victory

Romans 8:37 NLT

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

When we are living a life apart from him

and you can be living a life apart from him and still be a Christian

There is no hope, no joy, and no peace

But when we give our lives to Christ and follow Him we have hope, joy, and peace.

You can try to fill that void with anything, but if it is not Jesus, it falls very short and will not leave you with the eternal joy, and relationship with God.

You see God came to earth in human form

endured torcher

and hate from a creation that He deeply loves

even until death

HE did this for us, so that we can have an eternal relationship with Him.

It’s time to run to Him and give your life, burdens, and garbage to Him and be set free.
